Mainframe Networking Consultant
Mainframe Networking Consultant Deliverable The Resource will act as a subject matter expert on a variety of Mainframe network maintenance and Mainframe hardware replacement and migration activities such as: Enabling and supporting the day to day operations of the Government of Ontario's Mainframe networks. Planning, configuring network components for the new Mainframe processor installation, support the complex migration of existing networks from KDC to GDC onto the new Mainframe, supporting the migration of existing GDC mainframe, consolidating 2 Mainframes onto the new Mainframe hardware platform and decommissioning of network software configurations and hardware as well as supporting the existing Applications hosted on the existing Mainframes. Key Responsibilities: Provide Operational Support for sustaining the day to day operations of Mainframe network. Plan, configure and support installation of new Mainframe hardware platform. Provide migration support for Mainframe networking components. Provide decommissioning support for Mainframe Network applications. Daily operational changes, Incident/problem management. Provide on call/standby support when required. Closure of tickets in a timely manner, Keeping clients/management up to date on ticket status. Must adhere to Service Level Agreement (SLA) metrics, device maintenance. Providing technical MoP for all changes. ability to provide acquire network captures and articulate/document capture and point or root cause. Ability to work on Mainframe Hardware Refresh Project activities along with all keep the lights on (KTLO) activities. Evaluation Breakdown: Technology Experience - 30% Parameters: TCP/IP, VTAM, NNM, NDM, AT-TLS between clients/servers/M.F., VPSPRINT, Deliver and TN3270. Daily operational changes, Incident/problem management. Closure of tickets in a timely manner, Keeping clients/management up to date on ticket status. Strong conceptual and practical understanding of Mainframe Networking - Building new infra structure with automation as per design criteria. Intake and incident resolution - Integration of services such as identity, logging and monitoring. Skills and knowledge transfer. Solution status on various project being worked on. Demonstration of leading projects and initiatives end to end (technical and non-technical). Knowledge/skills in Communications and Customer Service - 10% Experience of working with customers/key stakeholders and using communication skills to resolve operational issues, negotiate or document process related intelligence. Knowledge/skills in Analysis and Problem-Solving - 10% Ability to work on Mainframe hardware refresh Project Initivities along with all KTLO and modernization activitites. Daily usage of all local Mainframe Network Tools to provide proactive support (TCP/IP, NNM, NDM, VTAM, Netview). Knowledge with Mainframe Network in a support role - 20% Demonstrated knowledge and operational support experience with Mainframe Network in a large scale environment similar as the Government of Ontario.
