Job Summary:
As a Mainframe Storage Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the storage environment for our mainframe systems. Your role will involve configuring, monitoring, and maintaining storage solutions to ensure data integrity, availability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and manage mainframe storage systems, including DASD, tape systems, and virtual storage.
Monitor storage performance and capacity, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
Implement storage policies, backup procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
Troubleshoot storage-related issues and coordinate resolution with technical teams.
Conduct regular audits of storage usage and make recommendations for improvements.
Collaborate with other IT teams to support application deployments and migrations.
Maintain documentation related to storage configurations, procedures, and policies.
Stay informed about emerging storage technologies and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Mainframe Storage Administrator or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of mainframe storage systems (e.g., IBM DS8000, TS7700).
Experience with storage management tools and monitoring solutions.
Familiarity with backup solutions (e.g., IBM Tivoli Storage Manager).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with mainframe operating systems (e.g., z/OS).
Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques.
Certification in relevant storage technologies is a plus.
