What does taking part in the Collins Aerospace Maintenance and Facilities Apprentice involve?
Aimed at highly motivated and ambitious individuals, eager to be a part of a world leader within the aerospace and defence industry. This scheme is geared towards supporting the career development of apprentices who wish to play an instrumental role in the manufacturing activities of the next generation of civil and military aircraft.
The role is based at our Collins Aerospace Composite Center of Excellence facility in Banbury, UK – formerly the Crompton Technology Group (CTG) – designs, qualifies and manufactures high-performance structural and non-structural aerospace composite products for military and commercial applications.
We are looking to recruit a high calibre apprentice who can support our Maintenance and facilities team to ensuring that all employees and visitors have the best experience while at our state of the art facility, whilst also installing and maintaining complexed manufacturing equipment. You will be accountable for the service, repair and maintenance of the sites building, infrastructure and manufacturing equipment ensuring that the needs of the business and our diverse customer base are met across key facets such as Schedule, Cost, Quality & Scope to name but a few.
A successful Collins Apprentice is super organised with excellent attention to detail, demonstrates a passion for hands on engineering, an expert communicator and can solve the toughest of challenges all while placing the customer at the centre of everything they do.

Development and training to build your career
We recognise that your development is key for you to fulfil your potential in the world of work. That’s why we’ve created a programme that will support your learning to deliver real business value.
Your first year will be sent attending Engineering Trust in Bicester where you will spend time learning basic engineering skills in Maintenance Engineering. You will then come on-site to putt your learning into practice where you will learn from our skilled engineers the basic principles and under pinning knowledge needed for your career.
The apprenticeship lasts for a period of 4 years and is a partnership between Collins Aerospace and Engineering Trust. You will learn key engineering principles at Engineering Trust which will be vital to your development at Collins Aerospace such as:
To understand technical documentation.
Carry out system diagnosis
Carry out repairs and modifications
To become capable of performing a multi skilled role when required
To apply the most safe, efficient, and effective methods available to keep key machinery available for production
To liaise with external service and parts providers
To assist in Root Cause Analysis of Breakdowns & identify improvement opportunities.
By the end of the programme, having completed your functional training and apprenticeship, you will be awarded Level 2 Foundation Competencies, Level 3 and the Apprenticeship.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for the best individuals who have the following attributes:
Minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade C/5 or above including Mathematics and English
Be a UK resident living in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
Good analytical skills and problem solving
Demonstrates a passion for hands on engineering
Good personal management and self-organisation skills
Effective communicator – written and verbal
