The Maintenance E&I Technician reports to the site's Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for predictive and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair of existing, and installation of new electrical and process control equipment throughout the facility.  In this role, you will directly impact the safety and reliability of an operating chemical plant.  To accomplish this role, you will interact and consult with other employees like other Maintenance E&I Technicians, Multi-craft Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Planners, Reliability / Process / Project Engineers, Chemical Operators, and all levels of plant supervision.   

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

Electrical:

480V Service Entrance & Distribution Equipment 480V Backup Generator Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) Motor Control Centers (MCCs) AC Induction Motors, Motor Starters and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Circuit Breakers, Fuses and Other Disconnects Electrical Transformers (Wye-Wye, Delta-Wye)  Power Panels & Wiring – Three Phase 480V, 208V Power Panels & Wiring – Single Phase 220V, 120V Control circuits, disconnects, switches, etc Conduit Installation (Rigid, Flex, EMT, PVC) and Wire Pulling Familiarity with Electrical Classifications for Hazardous Areas / Industrial Facilities

Process Control:

Distributed Control System (DCS) - Emerson DeltaV and ABB System Six Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) – Allen Bradley Control Wiring, Terminal Blocks, Low Voltage Fusing, Etc… Analog Instrumentation – Temperature, Pressure, Level, Flow, Rotational Speed, Conductivity, pH, Etc… Discrete Instrumentation – Solenoids, Motors, Limit Switches, Etc… Calibration for Analog and Discrete Instrumentation

Other:

The E&I Technician is also expected to perform other reasonably related maintenance and business duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Site Engineering Staff and Site Management. Ability to work overtime and Call-ins on weekdays and weekends

 

Minimum Requirements – Experience / Education / Skills and Training

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Strong organizational skills and self-motivation Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback and coaching Strong mechanical skills and the ability to use a variety of hand and power tools Ability to follow departmental practices, procedures and safety guidelines Ability to safely work independently and in a team setting by following all required procedures Ability to read, understand and interpret electrical codes (National Electric Code / NEC), building codes (International Building Code / IBC) and engineering standards. Ability to read, understand and interpret wiring diagrams, motor elementary drawings, and loop sheets.

 

Preferred Requirements – Experience / Education / Skills and Training

Associate’s degree, or formal certification in electrical, control or related disciplines NC Electrical Contractor’s License (Limited, Intermediate, Unlimited, or Special Restricted Licenses) 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience Proficiency with SAP maintenance and business software Experience with infrared (IR) thermography for electrical equipment Experience with airborne ultrasonic inspection of electrical equipment Proficiency with laser alignment of rotating equipment
