Job Summary
Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshoots and repairs all shipyard production equipment; including motors and controllers, generators, power panels and sub-stations, PLCs , VFDs , public address systems, and HVAC and machinery controllers. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
Qualifications Standards
This position requires a high school education or equivalent. Experience working in an industrial environment is preferred. Must have formal training in electrical theory or proven experience in trouble shooting and repairing electrical equipment. Must have the ability to evaluate malfunctions in equipment, systematically troubleshoot faulty component or circuitry, perform repairs, and test and return equipment to operational status. Must have the ability to safely troubleshoot 480v 3 phase circuits. Must be familiar with lock/tag out procedures and perform all work in accordance with OSHA safety regulations. Must have the ability to decipher electrical schematics, comprehend technical manuals, and use electrical test equipment and hand and power tools. Must have the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be able to work any shift. Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, hear warning signals, and read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.

Hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment. Personal protective equipment required.
Physical/Mental Involvement
Works in all areas of the shipyard requiring repetitive or prolonged stooping/crouching, kneeling, bending, standing, balancing, walking, climbing, reaching, pushing/pulling, handling, and manual and finger dexterity. Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 60 lbs. Must have color vision and good hand/eye/foot coordination. Must be able to maintain general safety awareness by hearing warning signals, reading and comprehending safety instructions, and avoid hazards commonly present in an employee’s work area.
Marginal Job Tasks
Housekeeping, including sweeping, in all work areas. Attend safety, quality and/or process improvement meetings as required.
Environmental Factors
Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, various climates and temperatures, and low ventilation conditions, all of which may cause discomfort and/or respiratory difficulties. Exposure to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts and high levels of constant noise.
PAY SCALE
$34.30 - $37.65
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
