Summary:
The Maintenance Engineering Manager will manage all aspects of Engineering and Maintenance units/operations to support manufacturing. Unit operations head of 1 to 2 units. Responsible for safety, regulatory and/or environmental compliance. Assures continuous improvement of processes. Uses expertise gained through wide exposure in previous assignments and experience by focusing on areas for planning, scheduling, organizing, performance management, financial management, administrative skills, QA, regulatory and validation.
Primary responsibilities for role:
Provide a leadership role ensuring employee health and safety. Monitor and drive improvements in OSHA incident rates. Manage predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance efforts as required to improve constraint/critical equipment availability and reliability. Maintain and monitor budget and expenses. Responsible for coaching, mentoring, motivating staff of Engineers, Supervisors, Planners and Maintenance Technicians Manage equipment calibration and metrology. Support a smooth transition of new equipment projects from project engineering to manufacturing Analyze/trend maintenance costs, prioritize improvement activities Conduct timely/competent root cause analyses. Recommend/implement innovative, efficient, and effective corrective actions resulting in stable and capable processes. Perform personnel performance reviews and recommendations for promotions. Support vendor negotiations, including purchasing of spare parts, equipment, and service contracts Demonstrates high level of facilitation skills to reach consensus; works toward win-win solutions for business benefit.Additional Responsibilities:
Provides effective leadership to employees in engineering operations. Interacts with senior executives, senior technical managers, business heads, customers, and suppliers within and external to the company. Demonstrates high levels of value and integrity. Instills company visions, values and beliefs in others by example. Actively pursues and manages process optimization, project management. Proactively develops positive community and employee relations. Coaches, counsels, manages and directs personnel in appropriate division/business unit assignments relative to priorities, sense of urgency and utilization of multiple skill sets.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of engineering programs, systems and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization. Ability to demonstrate practical applications and flexibility in adapting programs and services to meet specific requirements. Strong analytical skills and the ability to multitask.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field of study, advanced degree preferred. Professional registration and/or certifications as appropriate. Minimum 10 years comprehensive experience in a medium sized organization. Biotech or Chemical industry favorable.
Equivalency:
Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
Occupational Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues.
