1. Read and Interpret Blueprints:
• Understand and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the materials and methods required for fabrication.
2. Material Preparation:
• Select and prepare materials (metal, plastic, or composite) for fabrication based on project requirements.
• Cut, shape, and mold materials using appropriate tools and equipment.
3. Welding and Joining:
• Utilize welding and other joining techniques to assemble components, ensuring precision and adherence to quality standards.
• Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
4. Machine Operation:
• Operate various machinery, such as lathes, mills, saws, and grinders, to fabricate and shape materials as needed.
5. Measurement and Quality Control:
• Take precise measurements to ensure accurate assembly and alignment of components.
• Conduct quality control checks to verify that fabricated products meet specified tolerances and standards.
6. Problem Solving:
• Identify and resolve issues related to fabrication processes, materials, or equipment to ensure the smooth progress of projects.
7. Collaboration:
• Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and provide input on the feasibility and efficiency of fabrication processes.
8. Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to create a secure working environment.
• Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials as required.
9. Documentation:
• Maintain accurate records of materials used, time spent on projects, and any deviations from the original specifications.
• Must understand basic computer skills and ability to use a CMMS system
10. Continuous Improvement:
• Stay informed about new fabrication techniques, materials, and equipment to enhance skills and contribute to process improvements.
Work Experience
The preferred candidate might:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in metalworking or fabrication is preferred.
• Proven experience in metal or plastic fabrication.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and equipment.
• Familiarity with various fabrication tools and machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy materials.
