Located in Kent Washington, Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full service finishing for the aerospace, electronics and medical industries in both commercial and defense applications. Services include but are not limited to non-destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting, passivation, cadmium and nickel zinc plating, chromic, sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies, phenolics, polyurethanes, polyesters, elastomerics, intumescents, lacquers, alkyds, acrylics, dry-film lubricants, powder coatings and Teflon. Current approvals include the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program, (NADCAP), Boeing Commercial Aircraft Company, Boeing Defense and Space, Boeing/Philadelphia, Boeing Long Beach, Grumman, Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, Goodrich, Bombardier, Cessna and Sikorsky among much else.

Position Summary:

Candidates for a Level 1 Maintenance Technician, under direct supervision, will be expected to perform a variety of functions and tasks. These functions typically include basic repairs and preventative maintenance of machines and equipment, simple fabrication and manufacturing of tooling, or modification of existing equipment. Level 1 Maintenance Technicians will learn performance of proper safety procedures and protocols in shut down of equipment and facilities. Level 1 Maintenance Technicians shall become familiarized with the Facilities layout, and its functions and equipment operations. They may be expected to assist in janitorial duties or chemical maintenance in basic cleaning and/or containment. Other responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and organized work area, as well as adherence to all organization safety rules and regulations. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. As a condition of assignment, Level 1 Maintenance Technicians may be expected to access information and product controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or Export Administration Regulations. As such these candidates may be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, Legal Permanent Residence or protected status as a Non-Citizen National of the U.S.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintaining regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or a pre-arranged work schedule.Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions.Wear and maintain proper personal equipment (PPE), and follows all safety procedures.Work independently or as a team member as required by job.Perform daily safety inspections of air compressors, production hoists, paint booths, dust collectors, to name a few.Operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.Performs emergency and non-emergency shut down procedures of equipment and facilities, including lock out/tag out procedure.Perform PM and facility request work orders.Studies production schedules, and estimates repair and work completion to better schedule around production.Performance of “hot work”.Will at times require heavy lifting or use of mechanical hoist for the aid in lifting objects.Operators will be exposed to various cleaning and production chemicals/odors and occasional fumes, wet/humid conditions (indoors), outside weather conditions, and moderate noise level.May perform some janitorial and chemical maintenance duties or provide assistance.

Required Skills:

Ability to read, write and speak the English language.Detail oriented and quick learner.Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, & divide).Understanding of Facilities layout including; potable and production water systems, facility lighting, natural gas system, LP air piping system, and facilities security system.Ability to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds.

Previous experience in maintenance preferred

Shift:

Monday through Friday from 2pm to 10:30pm.
