Maintenance Farm Lead

From promoting growth and development to prioritizing work-life balance, we’re committed to helping our team members thrive. **That's Perdue.** **Summary** + Complete facility maintenance and serve as a project manager of an outdoor pig farm. + As a leader of the maintenance team, ensure the entire property is operational to optimize the safety and performance of the farm. **Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities** + Promote the health and safety of all team members. + Monitor and maintain the water system on daily basis, including wallows and drinkers. + Monitor fence current and maintain electric fences on daily basis. + Manage the maintenance of shelters, farrowing huts, gestation tanks, and hoop barns. + Manage the maintenance of all feeders on the farm. + Lead planning and execution of pasture management and grass seeding of radials. + Manage a suitable inventory of frequently used repair parts such as fence parts and plumbing supplies on hand to minimize downtime. + Manage upkeep of farm infrastructure: internal road maintenance and grading, weed control mowing and spraying, radial fencing and hubs, and animal load out facilities. + Guide maintenance team on seasonally appropriate repairs and adjustments to gestation tanks, farrowing huts, plumbing, watering equipment, and water system. + Recognize and manage special situations that require attention as needed. + Anticipate and prevent problems rather than allowing problems to develop and progress and then reacting to them. + Promote cooperation and contribute to adequate staffing. + Communicate openly and freely with others. + Notify and discuss openly with management any problems, questions or concerns. **Minimum Education** + Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent. **Experience Requirements** + Experience working with farm equipment, performing maintenance, welding, etc. + Proven ability to lead a team of 2-4 people. + Ability to lead by example, and work within a team. + Ability to problem solve, be a critical thinker, goal oriented, and a team player. **Experience Preferred** **Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements** + Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, reaching overhead and/or at shoulder level, lifting (50 lbs.) and/or repetitive tasks throughout the day. Position requires occasional moving to other offices or buildings. Day travel to nearby locations sometimes required. May need to access files, supplies, and equipment. + When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
