GENERAL PURPOSE

Under direct supervision, perform routine repairs, cleaning and/or preventive maintenance on building systems and production tools/equipment.Provide assistance to Journeymen as requested.In conducting work activities will interact with production and non-production employees as well as contractors and suppliers.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Adhere to and actively support all department, Corporate Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement and Corporate Safety policies and programsAssist in repair, rebuild or relocation/installation of equipment and/or systems.Basic fabrication in support of building system and production equipment.Preventive Maintenance - Inspect, clean and perform basic routine maintenance of building systems, material handling systems and production equipment.Repair departments' equipment/tools and report to Work Team Leader any deficiencies.Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience

One of the following is required:(1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example)(2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency.

Licenses and Certifications/Skills and Abilities

Must have a valid driver license.Must have or be able to obtain a Herman Miller Inc. fork lift, aerial lift, personnel carrier and other equipment license, as required.Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal.Must have the ability to read operation/repair manuals as related to this position.Familiarity with and fluent in the safe operation of small power hand tools.Must have the ability to learn to operate production equipment as part of performing preventative maintenance.Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.Must be available for regular scheduled weekend duty or call-in.Must have willingness to help others and eagerness to learn.
