Maintenance Generalist (Facilities)
Transdev in Boston, MA is seeking a Maintenance Generalist (position hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The Maintenance Generalist is responsible for performing and documenting minor facility repairs and improvements in a variety of trade disciplines at our 3 site locations under the direction of the Fleet and Facilities Administrator. Key Responsibilities: + Perform minor carpentry work including but not limited to the construction, alteration, repair, and/or installation of walls, stairs, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, and locks. + Perform minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as replacing light bulbs and fuses. + Perform minor servicing and replacements of plumbing fixtures. + Perform minor preventive maintenance and repairs to heating, ventilating, air conditioning equipment such as replacing belts on motors, changing filters, bearings, etc. + Maintain machinery, equipment, and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing, and oiling, to ensure optimum working order. + Perform structural repairs, alterations, and improvements such as applying plaster, paint, varnish, and stain to all types of surfaces. + Perform routine rounds and inspections of building utilities and systems and report any concerns. + Support facilities safety requirements and goal objectives and ensures compliance with regulatory, corporate and site requirements. + Work directly with vendors on site to assist with large scope facilities maintenance projects. + Perform janitorial duties and snow removal. + Reboot and/or replace Lytx cameras. + Replace ZUM tablets. + Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: + A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). + Graduation from a vocational school with a trade or technical concentration preferred. + Two (2) years of work experience performing general building or facility repairs and maintenance. + Building or facility repairs and maintenance experience in a commercial setting, preferred. + A Massachusetts registered Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) preferred. + Possession of a valid building or construction trade license preferred. + Must have a valid driver's license. + Must maintain an excellent motor vehicle driving record. + Must be at least 21 years of age. + Knowledge in a variety of trade areas common to the field of building and facility maintenance. + Knowledge of, the ability to use, and possession of standard hand tools, power tools, and equipment needed to perform basic building repair and maintenance tasks. + Ability to read schematics, and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams. + Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence. + Must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner. + Must be able to comprehend maintenance and repair instructions and manuals. + Must possess basic computer skills. + Good written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills. + Ability to organize and perform work efficiently and strong attention to details. + Ability to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization, the client, and vendors. + Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed. + Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. Physical Requirements: The essential functions of this position require the ability to: + Work in an environment outside or inside, exposed to varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions - work alone and in remote locations. + Occasionally stand, stoop, squat, and walk for extended periods of time; bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level; use hands and fingers to handle small parts, push buttons; and use hands, arms, legs and feet to climb ladders and stairs. + Sit or stand for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground, or slippery and uneven surfaces. + Must lift 50 lbs., lift/carry 15 lbs. up to 100', push and pull objects up to 50 lbs. up to 8' occasionally throughout the workday. + Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; and tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
