Job Description:
Perform preventative and routine maintenance on custodial equipment
+ Inspect, repair and test nonfunctional equipment
+ Perform preventative maintenance on battery operated floor cleaning equipment
+ Repair, remove and replace a variety of equipment and or parts used by Custodial Services
+ Troubleshoot electrical issues, repairing or replacing motors, electronic circuit boards, capacitors, electrical switches, timers, heating elements, and sensors
+ Remove and replace deep cycle batteries on 24- and 36-volt (V) direct current (DC) systems.
+ Repair non-powered custodial equipment such as mop buckets, window washing wands, dust mops, cleaning carts, and trash carts
+ Responsible for service repairs of walk-behind automatic cleaning equipment, washers, and dryers
+ Ensure equipment operates efficiently and meets established criteria for safety
+ Assembles and evaluates all new equipment before transporting to various areas
Train staff on the proper use of custodial equipment
+ Create educational materials for equipment as needed
Provide general administrative support as directed
+ Retrieve and complete work orders recording hours worked on each project
+ Ensure a detailed description of all work duties and projects are entered in data base
+ Maintain inventory for equipment and replacement parts ensuring proper functionality of all equipment; make recommendations for ordering equipment parts and supplies
+ Distribute specialty items as needed for semester cleaning activities
+ Clean, organize, and inspect workshop and vehicle weekly
Maintain and operate truck mounted carpet cleaning system
+ Provides support to the carpet truck mount system which includes but is not limited to repairing and maintaining proper fluids for gas and oil
+ Transports truck to the proper area location, assist with setup procedures, coordinates with staff members on utilization of carpet truck
+ Ensure tools are properly stored, and truck is cleaned and ready after each use
+ Maintains an area record of all carpets which were cleaned in a computer database file
Perform cleaning tasks in assigned areas in accordance with established standards and procedures
+ Apply topical protective coating to appropriate surfaces such as ceramic tile, concrete where applicable
Perform other duties as assigned, including special tasks or projects
+ Operates state vehicles
Expected Salary:
$16.50 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma (or equivalent) and zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE
+ General knowledge of carpentry basics
+ Ability to independently evaluate and make repairs to non-functional equipment for both mechanical & electrical issues
SKILLS
+ Experience with use of hand tools and multimeter for checking continuity, voltage, and capacitors
+ Demonstrated proficiency with computers and basic software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and web-based work order system
+ Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written)
+ Demonstrated customer service skills and interpersonal skills
+ Demonstrated attention to detail, professionalism, dependability, and timeliness
ABILITIES
+ Ability plan, organize, coordinate, prioritize work assignments and work independently
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
+ Ability to collaborate with and work with a team

+ The normal work schedule is Monday - Friday 7:45AM - 4:15PM with a 30-minute meal period. Some overtime outside of regularly scheduled work hours will be required especially during peak times.
