Maintenance Lead

Job Summary
The Maintenance Team Lead's primary responsibility is to provide direction, coordination, and support for the daily execution of a maintenance crew's maintenance schedule. This role supports safe, timely, and quality maintenance with a sense of urgency and accountability for equipment uptime. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service, and cost are the highest priorities. This position will also interact and communicate effectively with all GAF employees with a positive, customer-focused approach. The Maintenance Team Lead acts as a technical resource, providing guidance and training for both maintenance and production employees.


Essential Duties

Champion a safe and clean work environment, embedding safety as the highest priority within our culture.Lead and mentor maintenance technicians, cultivating a positive and collaborative team culture.Facilitate the training and continuous skill development of technicians, identifying opportunities for troubleshooting assistance and informal training.Provide expert technical guidance to both maintenance and production teams on proper maintenance procedures.Direct the maintenance team as required in order to effectively respond to emergencies and breakdowns; identify the skills needed to resolve equipment issues. Effectively prioritize and balance scheduled work for the shift.Coordinate comprehensive support for all equipment and facility work orders and repairs, ensuring accurate and complete processing within Maximo, including parts usage, time tracking, Work Order follow-up, failure codes and detailed notes.Lead and actively participate in pre-shift meetings, facilitating safety discussions, updating SQCC boards, and clearly outlining upcoming work.Assist in the prioritization, planning, scheduling, and assignment of all maintenance work.Serve as a backup for the Maintenance Supervisor, competently overseeing daily maintenance operations, permits, and providing coverage during absences.Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including POKA, EHS, and GBS, throughout the maintenance team.Ensure thorough documentation of all equipment maintenance activities, encompassing inspections, repairs, and modifications.Conduct periodic technical audits of equipment to ensure optimal and full operational performance.Contribute to the development of robust preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.Analyze complex maintenance problems and formulate effective solutions.Collaborate with production and engineering on new projects and equipment upgrades, emphasizing continuous improvement and maintainability requirements.Provide comprehensive support for job and project planning, ensuring safe and efficient execution.Demonstrate superior troubleshooting skills and technical expertise, effectively resolving operational issues for all plant personnel and providing leadership to mechanics during upset conditions.Ensure the safe, correct, and timely execution of maintenance by observing both internal and external personnel.Perform other job duties as assigned


Qualifications Required

H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) RequiredMinimum 3+ years experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Minimum 3+ years of experience in an Industrial Mechanic, Electrician or Multicraft position.

A working knowledge of CMMS software.Understanding of how maintenance works; time, materials, people, tools, etc.Intermediate proficiency in G suiteAbility to perform routine maintenance tasks across various disciplinesStrong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systemsProficiency in troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of industrial equipmentUnderstanding of 5S principles for maintaining organized areas, tools, and cabinetsAbility to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manualsAbility to use appropriate instruments to diagnose and locate equipment malfunctionsUnderstanding of PLC troubleshootingKnowledge of National Electrical CodeFamiliar with various types of industrial equipment and systems; pumps, motors, chains, sprockets, bearing alignment, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, etc.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Base Hourly Rate: $45.98
