About the role
The role of the Line Maintenance Lead / Planner is to implement and / or to maintain and continuously improve the maintenance planning and scheduling (MPS) and breakdown elimination (BDE) daily management system (DMS) for their area, to coach line teams to improve technical ability, and to provide a continuity link to other Progressive Maintenance (PM) systems.
Key responsibilities
Leadership
+ Actively participating in line daily direction setting (DDS) meetings and in the execution of the daily plan, including reporting on the following results for the previous 24 hours:
+ Maintenance planning and scheduling (MPS) in-process measure (exact number of planned maintenance activities executed, number of planned maintenance tasks created / modified)
+ Number of breakdowns and insights from the completed planned maintenance card(s) / maintenance logs
+ Review of defects
Planning and scheduling maintenance work
+ Reviewing and prioritizing SAP work orders and notifications within 24 hours of generation
+ Ensuring that the work order backlog is current and sorted for reporting, and managing how best to meet the compelling business need (CBN)
+ Managing planned maintenance work using SIMPTWW (safety, information, material, people, tools, where, and when)
+ Ensuring that the job plan archive is maintained on SAP
+ Leading the review of the previous job completion results, other maintenance activities, and the current day’s plan in the daily meeting; adjusting plans accordingly and based upon scheduled work, scheduled work completion, and a break in work
+ Actively supporting and coordinating with the line lead / process lead / line team on the planned stop, incorporating SAP work orders and maintenance tasks into the plan
+ Leading the scheduling of maintenance work for the next week during the weekly planning meeting
+ Leading the scheduling of maintenance work in the monthly meeting to schedule maintenance work for the next month, as dictated by the annual maintenance plan and previously identified work
+ Leading and supporting the investigation of breakdowns and the implementation of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
+ Leading optimization with the line lead / process lead of the start-up and shutdown of the line and the major maintenance interventions
+ Ensuring the revision and updating of maintenance technical documentation occurs as necessary
+ Creating one point lessons (OPLs), and training and qualifying the line team in maintenance activities
+ Developing and updating the annual maintenance plan and calendar
Tracking and reporting maintenance indicator results and in-process measures
+ Ensuring that maintenance output and in-process measures are tracked and kept current
+ Driving to ensure that activities or the lack thereof that drive maintenance indicator results in the wrong direction, are corrected or are brought to the attention of the appropriate resource
+ Ensuring that results of maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs) and in-process measures are used to assess the progress of the maintenance planning and scheduling (MPS) system, and to determine equipment reliability — results are shared with department leadership in the monthly meeting
+ Monitoring the health of the progressive maintenance (PM) daily management system (DMS) and work systems, and putting corrective actions in place with the line team:
+ Breakdown elimination (BDE)
+ Maintenance planning and scheduling (MPS)
+ Support to Autonomous Maintenance (AM): clean, inspect, lubricate (CIL); centerline (CL); defect handling (DH); including being the AM Step 4 subject matter resource (SMR)
+ Workshop and facilities
+ Lubrication
+ Maintenance costs
+ Parts usage and life
Developing improvement plans
+ Identifying improvement through the tracking of maintenance indicators and in-process measures
+ Identifying losses and improvement themes to eliminate losses
+ Owning, developing, and tracking improvement theme action plans
Champion and lead the continuous improvement process
+ Ensuring all equipment design change proposals (corrective maintenance) and adding / deleting / modifying work follow-up change management (CM) procedures
+ Critiquing all work executed, and updating or revising work plans, as necessary
+ Maintaining technical documentation to ensure that equipment drawings and schematics are complete, accurate, easy to find, and easy to use
+ Managing the relationship that exists with the storeroom in order to identify obsolete parts, poor quality parts, ideal in-stock numbers, the required delivery time of parts, etc.
+ Updating engineering drawings and standards, and feeding back to the owner
+ Managing the link to engineering drawing control, and establishing a maintenance technical documentation owner
+ Providing feedback to design (FtD) on any new equipment or on line speed-ups
+ Participating in vendor acceptance testing or other project work on new products or equipment
+ Participating in Progressive Maintenance (PM) Pillar work as required, and owning a site PM system as required
About you
+ Maintenance training and basic integrated work system (IWS) / high performance organization (HPO) training
+ Strong organizational and technical skills
+ Priority setting
+ Strong communication / coaching / training skills
+ Technical and practical equipment and tool skills
+ Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Steps 0-4: can teach work point analysis (WPA) and understands line transformations
+ Progressive Maintenance (PM) Steps 1-4
+ Understanding of problem-solving processes
+ Maintenance planning and scheduling (MPS) workshop
+ Breakdown elimination (BDE) workshop
+ Maintenance management information system knowledge and storeroom skills
+ Basic PC skills
+ Knowledge of AM and PM visual standards
Environmental / Working Conditions:
+ Must be able to freely move around entire facility.
+ Ability to work in and be exposed to heat.
