STATEMENT OF THE JOB:Under the direction of the Department Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the overall
performance of an assigned area. The line tech is primarily concerned with operation and direction of employees in such areas as changeover, start-up, continuous operation, and shutdown of the process. The line tech should be able to operate, adjust, troubleshoot, clean and repair all equipment in the asigned area. The line tech monitors all operations in the area to insure that a quality product is produced at maximum effectiveness under the given standards. The Line Tech is responsible for the cleaning of all equipment as assigned. The Line Tech is frequently required to work overtime as directed by production needs.
Ability to successfully enroll at Moraine Park College, are required.
This is a temporary 12 month position. Line Tech Apprentices will work on the job as well as at Moraine Park College to learn the skills to become a Line Tech. Line Tech Apprentices will be required to complete all coursework and demonstrate learnings from coursework, as well as maintain at least a C grade average at Moraine Park College. Training will be primarily on first shift, Monday thru Friday, but the position is flex and training may also be on the off shifts to learn line shut downs, sanitation, start ups, change overs, etc. In general, 2 days per week will be spent at Moraine Park College and 3 days will be spent at Kraft Heinz. Candidates will be expected to report to Moraine Park College at the designated time and place. KraftHeinz Beaver Dam policies, including attendance rules, will apply both at KraftHeinz and Moraine Park College.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Operation of equipment to optimize quality and productivity, adjustments, change oversee, troubleshooting and repairs. Make routine repairs and on-line adjustments
Make a thorough, daily inspection of equipment in assigned area..
Suggest and assist in modifications to machines, methods or processes, which will result in the safest, highest quality, highest effectiveness and lowest cost production.
Preventative maintenance, developing, updating and executing the process. Equipment overhaul, modifications and installations
Continuous improvement through innovation.
Ensure all products being produced meet quality specifications.
Monitor all operations of the process on a continuous basis to maximize production, minimize downtime, and to insure that a quality product is produced in a safe manner.
Execution of basic equipment maintenance, cleaning, inspection, lubricating, and adjusting. Exhibits safe work habits and encourages other to work safely.
Performs sanitation and assures compliance with sanitation standards.
Position may include quality checks, including but not limited to GMP, HACCP, and weights Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Participate in the QRMP audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions
Oversee and lead the implementation of the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational standards as outlined in the plant accountability list.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:Must be able to operate all equipment necessary for production.
RESPONSIBILITY OF EQUIPMENT OPERATED:The line tech must know how to run each piece of equipment and to troubleshoot any slow down/interruption on the production line for any reason. The Line Tech is responsible for the overall performance of the equipment in the assigned area.
VALUE OF MATERIAL:Probable loss of material due to machine malfunction is usually less then $500. However, where weight control responsibilities are involved and/or the responsibility to minimize quality rejects, substantial losses can result from improper attention.
LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions vary with production line. Certain work stations are in temperature controlled areas, while others are in areas where temperatures may range from 70-100 degrees F.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:The line tech will be a training line tech, which means training will be ongoing throughout the time in the position but the person awarded will be assigned to an area and may work independantly as capabilities improve. Candidates must pass the line tech test and will be interviewed to select candidates.
The apprentice program is a 12 month program. The employee will receive classroom and hands on training throughout the year and will be expected to become a Line Tech if an opening is available. At the successful completion of the apprenticeship the candidate will be allowed to bid on an open position. The shift will be based on department needs at the time of posting.
