We are looking for a thoughtful leader who will actively participate in and take ownership of maintenance Hub facility operational performance. This leader will hire, coach and support the maintenance team at one of Zipline’s newest launch metros. This leader will ensure the team operates in a manner that aligns with Zipline procedures and is compliant with FAA regulations. This role will work with the broader organization to ensure the team has the training, tools, materials, facilities, and procedures to conduct maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
You will utilize your expertise to continually improve the safety, operational excellence and efficiency of Zipline’s maintenance program, including participation in Zipline’s maintenance safety programs such as the Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) and Safety Management System (SMS).
What You'll Do You will ensure the highest level of safety and operational excellence in ensuring the operations at the site remain up to date with the procedures and regulatory advances. You take ownership of the Hub, and pride in that ownership. You direct how the maintenance facility is set up, and direct changes when needed. You drive the pace and tempo of the operation; Zipline pace and tempo are decisive, deliberate, focused and efficient - not rushed or chaotic. You set the pace and when necessary, provide motivation to improve it. You work closely with your local management team to create a cohesive, healthy and energetic culture. You hire and develop a team of highly motivated UAS maintenance technicians and support staff. You are responsible for supervision of UAS maintenance technicians at the site. You use good judgment to recognize hazards and take immediate action to mitigate them. You will ensure the facilities, materials, and tools used for maintenance are in good order and adequate to allow the team to conduct their work in a safe and effective manner. You are responsible for record keeping at the site. You are responsible for collaborating with the Director of Maintenance and the CASS Board to implement changes in the interest of safety and compliance in Zipline operations. You analyze the performance of the maintenance operation and take proactive steps to ensure the team is working in a safe, effective, and scalable manner. You investigate events at the direction of the CASS Board. You represent Zipline when local media, officials or other dignitaries are present. What You'll Bring You have an eye for detail and hold yourself and your teams to high standards while earning trust and respect. You enjoy hiring and developing high performance teams and can lead the assignment of technician staffing across time and location to support a dynamic, seven day/week operation. You communicate effectively (verbally and in writing). You enjoy building and maintaining strong relationships with internal business teams and external stakeholders, including civil aviation authorities. You have the proven ability to learn quickly; including success working with complex systems that require understanding of deployed hardware and software. You have the mental agility, grit, resourcefulness, and resilience to thrive in a novel, uncertain, and evolving business and regulatory environment. You have experience working in a supervisory capacity at a Part 121 or Part 135 air carrier overseeing maintenance operations or other relevant maintenance and repair operations (MRO). You have experience in MRO oversight & strategy, including implementation and ongoing oversight of contract maintenance. You have a background in electronics, electrical controls, network setup maintenance, aviation, space and/or other high-consequence industries. You have understanding and respect for federal regulation and are comfortable working in a highly regulated environment. You are eligible to receive a Federal Aviation Administration Repairman Certification. This means: You are capable of passing Zipline Technical Training and the Federal Aviation Administration evaluation for the Repairman Certification interview. You’ve not been convicted of any crime related to aviation or aviation services Must have a valid drivers license. Must be currently local or willing to relocate to Dallas, TX and expect meaningful travel outside of the Dallas area in the first six months (within US). Must be able to pass a background and pre-employment drug and alcohol test and understand you will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing after initial employment.
