Maintenance Manager – Kiel, Wisconsin
The Facilities / Maintenance Manager is accountable to lead, develop, and implement maintenance and reliability strategies that improve productivity while assuring highest levels of safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory compliance. Manages site assets, facility maintenance and modifications of equipment and ensures that all resources are available to production and other departments to maintain production systems, equipment, utilities, buildings, and grounds. In addition, this individual will work closely with Engineering, plant management, EH&S and Quality to development project scope, capital requests, and expense estimates. Additional duties include contractor / vendor selection and qualification, process design, equipment specifications and purchases, and project implementation including timeline coordination and execution.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the people leadership and development of all hourly and salaried direct reports according to the LOL vision and values.
Experience - Education (Required):
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Food Processing field and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial plant with 3 plus years’ experience in a leadership capacity or equivalent. OR an Associate’s Degree in a mechanical/utilities related field with 7+ years of technical maintenance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include managing people and capital projects.
Knowledge and expertise with dairy or foods manufacturing processes.
Food/Dairy/Chemical Manufacturing Processing experience requiring the use of a PSM regulated ammonia refrigeration system with technical knowledge of refrigeration and maintenance systems, equipment installation/startups and plant utility equipment.
Solid project management, manufacturing processes, facilities construction.
Competencies – Skills (Required):
Process Control knowledge, electrical knowledge, strong Mechanical Aptitude, familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
Principles and practices of food manufacturing, including food safety, quality, manufacturing concepts.
Project management planning and execution experience
Current RETA Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) certification or ability to obtain RETA CIRO certification or similar training is preferred.
Assist process designs, equipment specifications and capital estimates for process upgrades, modifications to existing systems and installation / commissioning of new assets.
Provide methods, equipment recommendations and standard operating practices to optimize processes and meet product specifications.
Facilitate training necessary to provide proper knowledge of the process and equipment.
Develop the skillset of maintenance personnel to ensure the proper technical knowledge is available on all shifts.
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
Solid skills in organization, prioritizing and attention to detail.
Ability to select, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of employees and provide periodic feedback to ensure development.
Computer Skills including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, Project, Visio, and Catalyst.
Ability to manage a department operating budget.
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with customers (internal and external) and vendors
Working knowledge of FDA and OSHA regulations, GMPs, Sanitation, and HACCP
Experience - Education – (Preferred):
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Food Processing
Detailed knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, process hazard analysis, process safety management.
Labor Relations and union experience highly desired.
Competencies – Skills (Preferred):
Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, contractors, and plant partners to ensure customer needs are met.
Encourage close teamwork between all functions (Engineering, Production/Operations, Safety, Sanitation, Quality, Management, etc.).
Continuous Improvement (CI) Processes/Lean Maintenance and TPM experience preferred.
Understanding of regulatory requirements for food safety.
Exposure with refrigeration, utilities and wastewater treatment equipment and processes.
Experience with Cause Mapping Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance Analysis
Understanding of Vibration, Infrared, MLT, Ultrasonic, and Motor Circuit evaluation
Experience and career history with "Fortune 500" type companies strongly desired
Note: This role is primarily first shift, but may require off shift hours, weekend and holidays as required.
