Maintenance Manager

 

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The Maintenance Manager provides both short- and long-term direction to the maintenance employees, implement root cause analysis, perform task completion audits, complete after-action investigation; and implement corrective actions as needed to maximize the machine uptime and equipment speed.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Able and willing to enforce all SIG policy and procedures regarding safety, Quality, HR, Customer Service, Production, Shipping, and Maintenance. In charge of hiring, orientation, on-boarding, training, development, corrective actions, and promotion of all maintenance employees.  Assist the plant to achieve all functional and financial KPIs; to improve the on-time delivery to 95% and meet the budget.  Assign resources required to solve unsafe conditions.  Constantly search and correct safety conditions and employee’s unsafe behavior.  Collect ideas and execute continuous improvement efforts focused on eliminating the unexpected downtimes, 5S, SMED, JIT, machine speed, reducing change-over time, eliminate costs, improving people’s work life. Develop and maintain a robust Predictive Maintenance (PdM) program aimed at identifying emerging issues and correcting same before they cause an operational impact. Foster and maintain a positive environment within the maintenance department. Build and maintain a positive and productive relationship between the maintenance department and other departments.  Perform a skill gap analysis of the maintenance department; build and execute a plan to fill those gaps.  Achieve and maintain 95% uptime for all production equipment.  Reduce and maintain the unexpected downtime to less than 5% of demand hours.  Manage all unexpected repairs, conditional, and preventive maintenance activities.  Plan and administer a PM calendar over the next moving 18 months. Administer all day-to-day activities for a 24/7 operations.  Plan human resources to cover for weekends, holidays, employee’s sick days and vacation.  Evaluate, select, manage all outside contractors regarding maintenance.  Manage the maintenance budget within plus/minus 3% of the budget.  Participate in capital planning, implementation, and new process development. Support the introduction of new technology and new products. Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly communication for the maintenance department.  Provide weekly KPIs to the plant manager. 

 

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

Required: Two-year degree in a technical and engineering Preferred bachelor’s degree (B. S.) in technical or engineering Minimum of five (5) years related experience in leading people.  Experience with electrical motors and controls, electronics, instrumentations, PLC and automation is a plus. Working knowledge of trouble shooting assembly lines, film extrusions, injection moldings are a plus. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequently standing, walking and sitting. Frequently required the use of hands to finger, feel, reach or handle machinery. Frequently bend, stoop and reach. Visual Acuity (VA). The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Moderate working conditions. Exposure to variable noise levels. Often exposed to moving mechanical parts.
