The Hopewell Power Station is a biomass facility situated in Hopewell, VA, with a capacity of 51 MW. It employs biomass-fired power generation technology to produce electricity, which is sold to Dominion. Additionally, the facility processes steam for sale. Opportunity Summary
The Maintenance Manager will oversee the daily activities of maintenance personnel, ensuring all tasks are performed safely and efficiently in alignment with company policies and technical specifications. This role will manage the plant’s preventive and predictive maintenance programs, collaborate with the NERC coordinator to meet testing requirements, and coordinate maintenance projects to optimize plant and contractor performance. Additionally, the Maintenance Manager will uphold safety standards, support employee morale, and assist with recruitment and contractor management to maintain smooth operations.
Primary Functions
Your scope of responsibility as Maintenance Manager will include the following primary functions:
Oversee maintenance personnel activities, ensuring maintenance and repair are conducted safely and efficiently, in line with company policies, procedures, and the station maintenance manual and technical specifications. Support and uphold the plant's safety procedures and goals. Collaborate with the Safety Manager to ensure all on-site contractors have completed safety evaluations before performing any activities. Promote safety compliance within the maintenance team. Manage the plant's preventive and predictive maintenance program, including equipment failure records, and provide trend analysis to the Plant Manager. Collaborate with the station NERC coordinator to ensure NERC-required testing is completed within the designated timeframes. Coordinate maintenance project activities by scheduling work, monitoring performance, and providing technical expertise to ensure that tasks are performed safely, efficiently, and on time. Determine project maintenance requirements by coordinating preventive maintenance, evaluating work requests, and managing manpower, parts, and equipment needs, including scheduled outages. Develop and manage contracts and work scopes for external contractors, ensuring optimal efficiency in the use of plant and contractor personnel. Maintain the plant's Maintenance Manual and ensure that vendor maintenance and repair manuals are properly filed and kept up to date. Coordinate with the Warehouse/Buyer, who is responsible for warehouse and inventory management, as well as network administration. Sustain the morale and motivation of maintenance personnel and address employee grievances as they arise. Assist with the recruitment, screening, and hiring of maintenance personnel. Complete special projects as assigned by the Plant Manager.NAES Safe

Conduct inspections and observations by establishing a regular inspection process for the work area and a safety observation process for ongoing work. Lead these activities in accordance with any rules, requirements, or guidance established within your business unit, group, or division. Involve all NAES teammates in these activities. Analyze results, write work orders, and provide training and education to eliminate hazards, address at-risk behavior, and meet company regulatory requirements. Conduct safety observation tours of high-risk activities (e.g., confined space) to verify that employees are following safe practices, company procedures, and OSHA regulations. Hold one-on-one sessions with direct reports to discuss safety issues, communicate expectations, and coach safe behaviors. Respond to all safety-related incidents, including injuries, incidents, and near misses; write a report explaining what happened, identify the cause, and recommend corrective actions based on established business unit or division practices. Follow up as necessary to ensure corrective actions are taken.Working Relationships
The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager and supervises subordinate maintenance personnel. The Maintenance Manager collaborates with the Operations Manager, Compliance Manager, and Administrative Manager as needed in the safe and efficient daily operation of the plant.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Power Plant Environment. Physical requirements include the possibility of standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility. Respirator qualified required.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
This position offers a Monday to Friday work schedule, during regular dayshift hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required. Some travel may be involved to participate in Manager, Owner, User Group, or other offsite meetings.
Compensation
Initial starting compensation will range from $138,600 to $160,000 and will include an annual performance bonus.

We are seeking a candidate who has extensive power plant combined cycle maintenance technical and leadership experience with a work history that demonstrates a pattern of accomplishments and advancement.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university. Relevant work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Advanced knowledge and extensive experience in power plant operations is required. Proven experience in managing maintenance programs, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, preferably in a power plant or similar industrial setting. Strong technical knowledge of power plant equipment and systems, with the ability to diagnose equipment failures and implement best practices to improve plant performance. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively oversee and coordinate maintenance staff to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Strong electrical and microprocessor-based control background, experience with rotating equipment, and the ability to use computer-based preventive and predictive maintenance tools is desired. Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Experience in developing and implementing maintenance programs, including the use of CMMS and reliability-centered maintenance approaches. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively communicate with superiors, subordinates, and external stakeholders. Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying and addressing maintenance challenges and implementing effective improvements.
