BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS
Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Maintenance Manager reports to the Terminal Manager and is responsible for all terminal maintenance at the Deepwater and Deer Park Rail Terminal. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; performance management of the maintenance team, safety, quality control, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and all maintenance and repairs on all assets within the facility. This facility has a combination of liquids operations and bulk operations. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining and repairs assets for both operations which include, but not limited to; pumps, valves, above ground storage tanks, heavy equipment (cranes, dozers, excavators, etc), conveyors, ship loader, dock, railroad tracks and locomotives.
As the Maintenance Manager your responsibilities include all aspects of maintenance and repairs at Deepwater and Deer Park Rail Terminal. The responsibilities noted below give a general idea of the Maintenance Manager duties but are not limited to the following;
Responsible for effective and efficient management of all maintenance programs and activities to ensure the proper and safe operation condition of assets and equipment.
Effective supervision, development, motivation, and appraisal of subordinates. Maintain appropriate crew levels.
Coordinate critical maintenance activities and issues with Engineering and Operations departments.
Provide effective status reports as necessary in order to clearly communicate important maintenance activities.
Performs duties between Financial, Engineering, EHS, and Operations in order to maintain efficient management of maintenance and resolve any difficulties relating to scheduling issues.
Supervises functions related to outside Contractors in order to protect company interests.
Supervises Terminal Maintenance crew to achieve goals within budgeted funds and available personnel.
Plans and organizes workloads and crew assignments, reviews progress, directs changes in priorities and schedules as needed to assure work is completed in an efficient and timely manner. Participates in the selection/promotion of staff and disciplinary matters. Conducts performance evaluations and assures employees are being progressed accordingly.
Coordinates new hire orientation training and programs for the maintenance team.
Manages, coordinates and/or reviews numerous projects within assigned area of responsibility.
Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations affecting terminal operations.
Writes scope of work, estimates, and submittal for bids for projects requiring outside Contractors.
Effectively plan, schedule, and manage multiple projects at one time.
Lead and oversee multiple Contractors to ensure projects and schedules are met.
Maintain an effective preventative and corrective maintenance program including computerized maintenance management system (Maximo) in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Assure all SMP’s are entered into the maintenance management system and develop a plan to get all assets that require preventative maintenance into Maximo, even if SMP does not exists.
Organize projects whereby reviewing and managing expenditures and commitments, and prepare monthly cost control reports.
Ensure all work performed is in compliance with company environmental, health, and safety policies.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Follows and enforces all rules and procedures established by Kinder Morgan for safe and efficient operations while maintaining compliance in all aspects of the terminal maintenance.
Observes for compliance of safety rules and procedures.
Assures that new employees are trained as necessary for tasks to be performed.

Control spare parts inventory, prepare requisitions and purchase material in compliance with Kinder Morgan’s Procurement and P-card policy.

Develop and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product handling.

Maintains payroll and overtime documentation and works with the administrative assistant regarding employee time records and weekly time sheet issues.

Develops and stewards manager/employee development to meet changing staffing need for operations.
Coordinates, prepares or maintains various reports, records, and other documents concerning maintenance and operations issues, expense management, safety & regulatory compliance, and employee administrative issues
