What will you do in this job?

Oversees and manages the daily maintenance, landscaping and repair of Lodge property and equipment while maintain a safe environment for guests and employees. Direct and manage the overall energy efficient operation of all Lodge equipment and ensure proper preventative maintenance of Lodge property.

Provides guidance and tools to encourage staff’s engagement, successfulness and effectiveness. Actively supervises a diverse staff responsible for maintenance, landscaping and janitorialResponsible for developing, maintaining and implementing training for safety standardsResponsible for creating, ensuring and effectively managing the budget for the maintenance departmentPerform standard daily lodge usage and safety checksRespond to or delegate maintenance requests in a timely mannerCommunicate daily with front desk and respond to immediate needsFollow all safety guidelines and precautions, including use of all tools and equipment and chemicalsOversee and manage the maintenance of grounds and landscaping, following the Lodge standardsContinually evaluate and initiate improvements to procedures and processes that increase efficiency and save man-hours What skills and experience do you need for this job? Ability to work independently, in a team environment and with minimal supervisionAbility to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment; ability to work under pressure and prioritize workloadExcellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to be empathetic with respect to guests’ and staffs’ needs and problemsAbility to work closely with all levels of the Alaska Collection staff and management and the general public, including professionals and executives from a variety of companiesAbility to follow complex oral and written instructionsWorking knowledge of maintenance and safety standards and requirements in the hotel industryMust be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basiCHigh School Diploma or GED requiredTraining in general mechanical, boiler maintenance, plumbing, construction and electrical maintenance preferred5 years experience on building maintenance2 years supervisory experience; or any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilitiesMust be 21 years of ageMust have a valid US Driver’s License with clean driving record What will your work environment be like?
