We have an immediate opening for a 12-Hour Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic at our Newark-Bellevue site in Newark, Delaware.
The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and operates in compliance with trade regulations; performs maintenance and preventative maintenance functions; operates maintenance equipment; follows blueprint designs; dismantles and rigs equipment and materials; participates in achieving the company quality goals; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs corrective and preventative maintenance activities in accordance with industry best practices and site procedures and policies.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair/adjust all types of industrial mechanical equipment including pumps, agitators, compressors, blowers, ovens, rolls, shafts, bearings, process piping, reactors, heat exchangers, heat transfer systems, material handling systems, heating and ventilating equipment, hydraulic presses, and milling machines.
Demonstrated use of hand / power tools, precision measuring equipment, forklifts, cranes, dollies, lifts, roller bars, and hoists.
Capable of precisely aligning pumps, shafts, rolls, and motors.
Knowledgeable in the use of mechanical diagnostic equipment and techniques.
Plans, designs, interprets, and works from standard and non-standard blueprints, drawings, and P&IDs.
Provides input for the design of new processes and systems.
Provides instruction and knowledge sharing to other mechanics and operators.
Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control systems, motors, drives, and instruments a plus.
Must provide basic set of personal tools. Specialty tools are provided.
Operates in compliance with company safety practices: complies with and aids in the development of departmental safety rules; ensures all equipment is in good working order and operates in a safe manner; follows procedures for handling and disposal of chemicals; monitors area for hazards; uses safety equipment when required; and maintains safe, clean work area.
Participates in achieving the company quality goals: dedicated to reducing product variation and to the spirit and body of continuous improvement; strives for a better understanding of our customers’ requirements; maintains proficiency in problem solving techniques; embraces the concept of teamwork; takes ownership for the quality of the products produced and services performed; and provides excellent internal and external customer service.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Ten years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment is required. Preferred experience will be in chemical or medical device manufacturing.
Journeyman Millwright certification is preferred.
Works in a team environment in a clean, safe, and respectful manner.
Independent worker with minimal supervision
Cooperative attitude and the ability to make critical judgments during the production process are necessary.
Possesses the written, verbal, and interaction skills necessary to work with teams across the site.
Proficient in the use of a computer and common applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), HR / timekeeping, and online training to complete job requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time; perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion, including lifting and moving loads of minimum of 50 pounds, climb ladders/stairs and work on elevated platforms; use hand tools and operate fixed and mobile plant equipment; work and travel throughout plant environment of varied temperature and humidity; a full range of motion; and to wear personal protective devices such as harnesses, respirators, gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The working environment is primarily a manufacturing facility. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
