Maintenance Mechanic (1st Shift)
**Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic** **Job Description** We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience maintaining CNC machinery, electrical and hydraulic systems, overhead cranes, and performing routine and preventive maintenance on various fabricating equipment. **Responsibilities** + Perform responsibilities in a safe manner and adhere to safety guidelines at all times. + Set up and perform a wide variety of general electromechanical maintenance duties involved in maintaining the equipment, machinery, tools, etc. + Use rules, meters (OHM and volt), test lights, ladders, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, hoists and various hand tools, together with the use of wiring and assembly diagrams, repair manuals, etc. + Perform repairs on production tools and machinery as required, including wheels, bearings, gears, switches, wiring, air lines, water lines, etc. Repairs involve testing, disassembly, assembly, and operation of the equipment along with the reworking or replacement of defective parts. + Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance as well as plumbing repairs. Maintain welding equipment, replace electric motors, change and adjust blades on shears as required. Hook up new equipment, make air, water, and electrical connections and hook-ups. Wire controls and power feed. Install wiring for cranes. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as scheduled. Keep required records of maintenance, time, parts, etc. + Use extreme care while handling high voltage electric lines and while working overhead to prevent injury to self or others. + Instruct, train, and check the work of a helper or lesser-classified maintenance mechanic. + With approval of Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager, determine needed replacement and repair parts and prepare requisition for the parts or order parts or specialty repair work as needed. Maintain the maintenance shop and work areas in a clean, orderly, and proper manner. + Detect unsafe conditions and behaviors and immediately report them to the supervisor. **Essential Skills** + High school diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant experience. + 2-5 years maintenance experience in an industrial environment. + Ability to stand for the entire shift and walk throughout the facility. + Ability to repeatedly lift 10-20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs. + Ability to work from heights to repair and maintain overhead cranes. + Ability to perform basic math computations. + Effective communication skills. + Flexibility with required working hours, including overtime. + Team-oriented with a focus on safety and quality. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + More heavy mechanical experience, with welding, fitting and painting. + Millwright experience is preferred. + Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics. + Comfortable working at heights, up to 40 feet on cherry pickers. + 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in an industrial setting. **Work Environment** This is a 1st shift position with likely shifts from 6AM-5PM Monday-Thursday and 6AM-2:30 PM on Fridays, totaling a 50+ hour work week. The work environment is not climate-controlled and involves a steel manufacturing environment that produces steel girders for bridges. There are 6 cranes onsite, and you will be working with heavy mechanical equipment, welding, fitting, and painting. Must not be afraid of heights as you will work on cherry pickers up to 40 feet high. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
