**Job Title:** Maintenance Mechanic **Pay Rate** : $32-35/Hour **Location** : Portage, IN **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team on-site in the slitting department. The Maintenance Technician will oversee 8 slitting tables, adjust machinery, tooling, and shears, and ensure the quality and maintenance of the equipment. **Responsibilities** + Oversee 8 slitting tables. + Adjust machinery, tooling, and shears. + Utilize calipers to quality check machinery. + Complete preventive maintenance (PM) as per the schedule. + Troubleshoot and repair slitter tables. + Utilize Allen Bradley PLCs to monitor faults and conditions (no reprogramming). + Work with 480 V systems. + Rewire motors. + Solder Coder cables. + Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic motors. + Maintain production and equipment. **Shift** + weekly rotating 1st shift (7am-3pm), 2nd shift (3pm-11pm), and 3rd shift (11pm-7am) **Benefits and Perks** Candidates will join the 150 operators union after 640 hours, enjoying the same benefits as US Steel workers. Vacation time increases with tenure: 1 week after 1 year, 2 weeks after 3 years, and 3 weeks after 10 years. Union scale pay at the time of hire with annual increases. **Work Environment** The role is within a heavy industrial steel environment, responsible for 8 slitter tables alongside a team of over 20 individuals. The environment is hot and safety-focused, with required PPE provided. The position involves rotating shifts.
