About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic and Welder is responsible for the safe, environmentally sound and efficient daily operation of the facility and maintenance. As a Maintenance Mechanic and Welder, you will be responsible for performing various mechanical, maintenance, and repair work including the inspection and maintenance work required for the operations of a refuse to energy facility.
Position Responsibilities:
Inspect and adjust the mechanical alignment of pumps, replace or rebuild pumps, replace fan bearings, replace motors, repair screw conveyors, rebuild or change gearboxes, install and modify pipelines, and assist in the modification and addition of plant projects. Perform various maintenance and repair work as assigned using proper Reworld safety practices.
Inspect, adjust, totally rebuild, laser aligning, balance and level pumps, fans, and other rotating machinery as required.
Perform preventive maintenance task on all plant mechanical equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic problems and complete all maintenance work records.
Actively participate in plant shutdown work including tear down and inspection of all mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
Take an active part in the vibration and oil analysis programs.
Keep the work area and tools clean, same and orderly manner. Perform plant and shop housekeeping chores.
Follow all Reworld procedures and safety polices.
Complete any required Reworld training within the assigned timelines.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Effectively complete preventive maintenance tasks per maintenance schedule to prevent breakdowns of equipment and operational downtime while maintaining strict compliance with all of Reworld’s safety rules and procedures.
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or 5 years equivalent experience– Reworld offers GED Works – a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.
Must be able to read, write and speak English. (Spanish is a plus)
Possess some computer skills to aid in the use of ALM system. (Will be trained)
Must be able to work rotating shifts/available for on-call
Ability to perform small welding projects and knowledge in using a burning torch. Code welder is preferred.
Valid driver’s license
A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in a heavy industrial/manufacturing environment
Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule
Shift:
4 days per week, 10-hour days
Physical Demands of the Role:
Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
Consistently work in various weather conditions
Ability to perform small welding projects and knowledge in using a burning torch. Code welder is preferred.
