Maintenance Mechanic
Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the United States Army Reserve Command, Building Management Division located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Responsibilities Disassemble, inspect internal parts, and replace inoperable parts in air conditioning equipment, heating/boiler equipment, cold storage equipment. Locate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical wiring systems. Service, maintain, and repair domestic, commercial, and industrial air or water conditioning equipment and large heating units and systems including oil and/or gas fired high pressured boilers. Read prints of equipment, electronic, and pneumatic circuits to make changes and maintain climatic conditions. Utilize proper gauge and test equipment such as manifold gauges, leak detectors, volt ohm millimeter, component analyzer, thermo anemometer, dial indicators, and voltmeters to inspect and determine cause of malfunctioning equipment Repair and replace plumbing lines, water lines, broken ties, leaks, defective faucets/valves/floats and clears stopped commodes/sinks/lines. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Perform common maintenance and repair tasks on Industrial air conditioning, boiler system heating, and cold storage equipment; Perform repairs of electrical wiring systems, malfunctioning water lines, door locks, and electric locks and Monitor building automation systems. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must lift and pull heavy equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. May work in tight/ uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Required to stoop, stretch, and bend, and to work while standing, sitting, kneeling or lying down. Must have good foot, hand and eye coordination to drive vehicle. Works aloft on poles, ground level, and in trenches or manholes. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather. Subject to hazard of electrocution, burns from equipment, gas fumes and falls from high places. Subject to injury from accidents while driving vehicle.
