Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description

• Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain chemical plant equipment, including pumps

(centrifugal, positive displacement, air diaphragm), vessels, exchangers, piping, valves,

motors, agitators boilers, hot oil heaters, air compressors, cooling towers, chillers, and

blowers.

• Install and modify piping, equipment, and pump alignment.

• Operate and maintain industrial tools, including hand tools, power tools, and heavy

equipment.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and complete daily maintenance

work orders.

• Inspect critical equipment for operational defects and recommend proactive

maintenance solutions.

• Assist with electrical equipment installation, including motor wiring and pneumatic

valve installations.

• Participate in process safety management (PSM), process hazard analysis (PHA), and

ISO compliance programs.

• Support continuous improvement and mechanical reliability initiatives.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, following OSHA,

lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and working-at-heights safety standards.

• Serve on the Safety Committee and contribute to a culture of workplace safety.

• Rotate on-call schedule for off-hours maintenance needs.

Work Experience

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on maintenance skills

• Experience with liquid handling systems and pumps, including positive displacement,

centrifugal, and air pumps

• Basic electrical knowledge, including installation of pneumatic valves and pumps

• Familiarity with plant utilities such as steam, air, nitrogen, water, and hot oil (preferred)

• Ability to diagnose and repair industrial equipment using hand and power tools

• Forklift certification (preferred)

• Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 60 pounds

• Self-motivated, independent worker with strong collaboration skills

• Willingness to work overtime and participate in on-call rotations

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required

• Industrial or chemical manufacturing maintenance experience preferred

• CMMS maintenance system experience preferred
