Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description

Demonstrate full proficiency in maintenance and mechanical activities to ensure all equipment operates effectively and efficiently. Perform general and preventative maintenance, overhauls, modifications, fabrication, welding, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Work with limited supervision, with oversight on complex or new assignments, and act as an informal resource for less experienced colleagues.

ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance and repairs (planned, unplanned, emergency) on production, processing, and packaging equipment as well as utility-related equipment or systems, following all safety procedures.Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections of equipment for reliability and performance assessment.Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.Support the installation of new equipment.Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.Complete work orders in a timely manner while maintaining high-quality standards.Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees, and notify them of any problems or concerns that may restrict production efficiency.Ensure all repairs are documented. Complete all paperwork clearly, legibly, and accurately with required information. Document all required information in accordance with standard operations procedures.Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology, and techniques.Utilize a continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities to improve processes.Anticipate parts requirements for tasks, follow proper purchasing procedures, and acquire parts ahead of anticipated task performance.Maintain safe working conditions for employees and comply with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues.Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work consistently with corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.Essential SkillsTroubleshootingMaintenance technicianElectricalHydraulicsPneumaticsAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentGraduation from trade or technical school preferred in areas such as electrical, programmable controls (PLC/HMI), mechanical, welding/fabrication, refrigeration, plumbing, etc.2 to 4 years of maintenance, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC, and HVAC or related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environmentExperience with a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipmentExperience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferredCertification and/or license may be required during the course of employmentKnowledge of charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, and wiring diagramsAbility to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment downtimeAbility to use a variety of maintenance tools, hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment safelyAbility to perform maintenance activities and repairs independently and assist on more complicated repairsAbility to perform minor to mid-sized projects from planning to installationAbility to present options and ideas for current processes or proceduresAbility to adapt and manage change effectivelyAbility to perform tasks and duties without constant supervisionAbility to work effectively in a team environmentAbility to diagnose and take appropriate steps to find solutions to problemsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writingBasic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measureBasic computer skillsWhy Work Here?

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New Britain, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
