Job Description

The Maintenance Millwright is responsible for maintaining and improving the plant facilities, machinery and control systems and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees by performing such work as preventative, corrective and redesign maintenance and new equipment installations.

Duties for this position will include, but not be limited to the following:

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to machinery and plant support systems with regards to mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic problems.Work on preventative maintenance programs and keep detailed and accurate maintenance records.Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on machines.Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate the parts required during overhauls, maintenance or set-up of machinery.Work with a wide array of precision tools, such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks and levels.Apply technical knowledge and skills to the repair and maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment such as CNC controlled punching, shearing, and material transportation systems, overhead and wall cranes, fluid and air power systems and controls, band saws, welding feeders and power supplies, and roll forming lines.Fabricate custom parts, fixtures and guarding by means of MIG/ARC welding, grinding, oxyacetylene cutting. Assemble and install machinery and equipment such as conveyor systems, bearings, gearboxes, motors, shafts, sprockets, etc.Participate and support Lean manufacturing initiatives.Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment in breakdown situations to ensure production requirements are met.Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements, and time management in the performance of daily duties.Comply with all legislated and company’ health, safety, environmental, quality procedures and programs.Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or his designate.

QualificationsMinimum grade 12 educationPosition will require availability to work afternoon shift Monday to Friday and weekday and weekend overtime as requiredMust have valid 433A millwright license/certificationExperience working with a CMMS systemStrong familiarity with machine shop practices (lathe and milling machines)Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranesUnderstanding of bearings and their functionsExcellent troubleshooting and analytical skillsMust be able to read and interpret drawings from a sketch or sampleAbility to work independently with minimum supervisionStandard inventory of millwright tools requiredWork in a Lean manufacturing environment

Additional Information

Compensation: The compensation will include base pay, benefits after 90 worked days, profit sharing, pension plan and signing bonus.

Physical Demands: The nature of this position also requires the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities, ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (50-70lbs), to sitting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling with repetitive hand and finger movements. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

Work Environment: The employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to welding fumes and airborne particles. The employee may also be at risk of experiencing flash burns, skin burns, electrical shocks and high noise levels. Personal Protective Equipment must always be worn (including but not limited to: metatarsal safety boots, safety glasses, welding helmet, welding gloves/sleeves, earplugs and respiratory protection).
