Maintenance Planner, Ferndale Refinery

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities to maximize schedule compliance and resource utilization, control backlog to target levels, and prioritize work including safety work orders. Provides primary backfill support for the maintenance scheduler, planning functions, and other supervisory roles.
 

Responsibilities May Include:

Acts as a steward of safety and health by recognizing and stopping unsafe behavior, recognizing and reporting safety hazards, completing assigned safety training, and complying with PSM requirements. Demonstrates a concern for the environment and supports the goal of minimizing impacts Assists the maintenance scheduler in developing weekly work schedules that are ready to execute and well- coordinated with labor resources, job steps, material availability, operational activities, and are not in conflict with other planned work Effectively leads or participates in meetings with operations involving maintenance updates, coordination, and work prioritization Tracks uncompleted weekly work orders and ensures integration into future schedules or flags as needing technical evaluation, waiting on material, etc. Ensures that preventive maintenance activities are completed on-time with the goal of zero overdue Evaluates and modifies SAP PMs as necessary to improve job steps and optimize work hours Leads review, planning, and resolution of safety related work orders Leads periodic maintenance backlog reviews with operations and maintenance crafts ensuring completed work orders are closed and outstanding orders are vetted, prioritized, planned, and scheduled Reviews and contributes to unit and equipment outage planning Assists with kitting of materials Identifies and helps resolve productivity issues Interfaces regularly with operations coordinators, planners, maintenance scheduler, supervisors, craft persons, contractors, engineering, and corporate resources Assists in achieving maintenance planning and scheduling metric targets Assists with maintenance cost control tasks Provides backfill support for the maintenance scheduler, planners (coordinators), warehouse supervisor and other maintenance supervisors as necessary. Assists with other planning department functions as needed
 

Required Qualifications:

Legally authorized to work in the job posting country High school diploma or GED equivalent 10 or more years of refinery experience with at least 2 years in a maintenance planning role Proficient in MS Office Possess a valid Driver’s License Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following: Travel up to 5% of the time Occasional on-call duties Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays Transport articles up to 50 pounds Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet in height Work around chemicals, including acids and bases Work around hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat Work outside in harsh weather conditions Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection) Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates degree 5 or more years of maintenance scheduling experience in a refinery 3 or more years of experience working with Symphonic scheduling programs 5 or more years of experience working with SAP
 

The Ferndale Refinery is located on Puget Sound in Ferndale, Washington, approximately 20 miles south of the U.S.-Canada border. Facilities include crude distillation, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation and hydrodesulfurization units. It processes a variety crude oils, including Alaskan North Slope, Canadian and other foreign and U.S. shale crudes, primarily delivered via marine vessel and pipeline. Within the refinery is a rail car crude oil receiving facility with a capacity of 30,000 BPD. This offloading facility, owned by Phillips 66 Partners, makes the receipt of additional crude by rail car possible. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include residual fuel oil, which is supplied to the northwest marine bunker fuel market. Most refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline and barge to major markets in the northwestern United States.

Compensation

 

The base pay range for this role is $108,900 - $140,700 depending on a candidate's relevant work experience and education.
