Maintenance Planner

The primary role of the Reliability Excellence Planning Lead is to improve work force productivity and work quality by eliminating in advance potential delays and obstacles through proper planning of the required materials, procedures, and resources for maintenance work.  The planner is responsible for the planning of all maintenance work performed in the area to which he/she is assigned.  He/she maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or completed work.

 

Main Accountabilities:

Reviews and screens each work order to see that is has been properly filled out. Develops and maintains planned and predictive maintenance procedures as required. Examines jobs to be completed and determines best way to accomplish the work. Identifies and obtains (requisitions, orders, kits as appropriate and in keeping with procedures) materials, special tools and equipment necessary to complete the work. Determines if critical items are in stock by verifying availability. Estimates cost of each work order in terms of direct labor, materials required and total cost. maintains backlog files of work orders waiting scheduling in accordance with their priority limits with an estimated completion date. Develops a file of standard work orders (plans) for regularly recurring repair jobs, based on historical experience. Reviews with the maintenance area management the actual labor expended versus estimated labor and material used for completed jobs. Conducts informal training as required of maintenance personnel regarding proper maintenance procedures and the use of any applicable maintenance software. Reviews all completed work orders for completeness and accuracy, updating machinery history data in applicable maintenance system of record as required, and ensures bill of materials are up to date. Understands the proper methods to be employed in replacing or maintaining typical mechanical equipment items. This includes, but is not limited to: Conveyors, belt and bucket elevators, flaking and cracking mills, pumps, grinders, food processing equipment.

 

 

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.  2 year vocational or technical degree preferred.      Minimum of 5 or more years of progressive experience operating in the capacity as a plant maintenance worker preferably as millwright or electrician with some experience leading day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance. Adequate trade knowledge to estimate labor hours and materials and ability to visualize a job to completion. Has the ability to read blueprints and shop drawings. Strong mathematical skills.
