Maintenance Planner

Responsible for the development, maintaining and continuous improvement of the maintenance plans (Preventative, Predictive and Corrective), build the bill of materials, maintenance assemblies and task lists and updating the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) which is SAP for Chicago 31st Street.  This position also includes responsibility for the management of the storeroom. The position of Maintenance Planner reports to the Maintenance Manager.  Maintenance Planner works with Maintenance Shift Leads to create the weekly work plan. The Maintenance Planner works closely with the Maintenance Manager and Production Supervisors to ensure that the integrity of the weekly maintenance plan is followed by the Mechanics or that any changes made are reported back to the Maintenance Planner for follow-up and future scheduling. The Maintenance Planner assists in planning and supervising the daily maintenance, including weekends, of repair projects on available equipment not scheduled to run. Assists in the orientation and training of new employees as related to the Maintenance Computerized Management System, or equipment parts and repair as necessary. Ways you will make a difference

 

Maintain and update the Plant’s SAP function location hierarchy database as necessary. Development and implementation of PM and PdM tasks and plans including validation of new plans through Mechanics and the Maintenance Manager.  Prioritize run time PM development program. Maintain and schedule PM’s for facilities maintenance including electrical substations, electrical breakers, boilers PRV’s, air holding tanks, air compressors, water supplies, and instrumentation within the Plant. Ensure that planned work is being completed by the mechanics and provide support to the Production Supervisors in the event of emergency work priority determination. Must work closely with the Storeroom staff on spare parts issuance, assignment of parts for work orders, and spare parts inventory levels. Coordinates and directs the activity with outside vendors (Original Equipment Manufacturer-OEM) and outside contractors. Responsible for the creation of purchase requisitions and at times, sourcing of various vendors and pricing to procure necessary items. Responsible for documenting department Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). Actively involved with the plant safety teams and as a point person to support safety related issues. Must comply with all applicable food laws, regulations and food safety requirements. Perform other related duties as requested.

 

Experiences that will support your success

 

Two years of a technical Maintenance  program or formal completion of an apprenticeship program required Minimum of two years of experience in maintenance activity required, preferably in a food industry setting. College courses a plus Mechanical or Electrical degree a plus Previous maintenance planner or supervisor experience is highly desirable. Must possess the ability to work effectively with people.
