Maintenance Planner

Job Description:

As an integral member of the Maintenance Team, the Front Line Maintenance Planner is responsible for effectively planning and scheduling maintenance to optimize manufacturing productivity and uptime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Main contact between Maintenance and Operations. 

Review and screen incoming work requests to identify scope and analyze the required level of planning. Discusses details with the requestor as appropriate. 

Assures the work request is needed. 

Converts work requests into work orders and defines the priority level. 

Conducts field walk downs to identify and document job requirements to include material, specific tasks and any specialized equipment. 

Makes safety procedures and provides safety documents to include lock-out/tag-out procedures, confined space, hot works permit, etc. 

Obtains blue prints, drawings, manuals and special procedures as needed. Makes any additional diagrams, supplies photos or visual instructions as needed.  

Plans all required material to the work order and ensures it is properly kitted. 

Estimates jobs and assures they are planned with sequenced steps with the required number of tradespersons and amount of labor.

Ensures there are clear and concise instructions for each sequenced step of the work order. 

Conducts weekly meetings with operations and maintenance leadership to create a weekly maintenance schedule. 

Delivers scheduled work orders to the supervisors of tradespeople. Clearly communicates with tradespeople regarding critical steps. 

After completion of work orders, communicate with supervisors and experienced tradespeople on ideas and changes that would make the job more efficient in the future. 

Reviews the previous week’s maintenance schedule and re-schedules work accordingly. 

Maintains and audits the work order backlog that is waiting on scheduling and material in accordance with priority, estimated start and finish date. 

Ensures there is adequate amount of scheduled work orders and work orders ready to be scheduled at all times in occurrence to the amount of labor availability.  

Communications with and schedules contractors for outsourced work orders. Ensures there is a management plan to include the point of contact and necessary approvals for the contracted tradespeople.  

Documents and creates a database of detailed and specific job plans for routine maintenance. Collaborates with experienced craftsmen for technical details of the job plans. 

Participates with the Reliability Department on recommending asset and proactive maintenance improvements. 

Must have the ability to read/understand technical manuals, blue prints and drawings. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to read and write in English to complete required documentation

Education: High School Diploma or GED / Technical two-year degree (Preferred)

Experience:  Five-year work experience in skilled industrial trades 

Systems: Microsoft Office and Google Suites

Preferred Qualifications:

Maintenance, automation or manufacturing experience

Mechanical skills including electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc. 

Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills 

Basic math skills

Mechanically inclined 

Industrial work experience

Physical Requirements: 

Stand on feet for long periods of time during a shift for up to 12 hours, with intermittent breaks

Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by Cambria 

Participate in daily stretch and flex exercises 

Work in a non-climate controlled environment 

Walk up and down steps multiple times throughout shift 

Bend over multiple times throughout shift 

Task Based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements: 

Steel toed boots

Hearing Protection 

Safety glasses

Cut-proof gloves
