Maintenance Planner

The Opportunity:
 
The Maintenance Supervisor/Planner is responsible for the performance, reliability and results of all equipment and corresponding maintenance and repair work (including contract work) in his/her work area. Supervising in the field, this is accomplished by the proper training, deployment and control of craftspeople to complete jobs according to the Daily Work or Outage Schedule and any break-in or emergency work necessary. He/she directs and coordinates the work of their crew to eliminate over manning and idleness while achieving the safest and most efficient utilization of resources, tools, materials and equipment. The supervisor personally insures equipment is returned to proper operation after work is completed and allocates proper distribution of time to work orders.
 

Maintenance Planners Roles and Responsibilities:

Maintenance Planner will attend the Daily Approval Meeting for the reviewing and approving of the work orders entered prior to that day’s meeting.Maintenance Planner will be responsible for scheduling and conducting Field Day, Minor and Major Outage meetings. Maintenance Planner will approve, reject, or return the work orders for their areas, after reviewing each work order in the DAM meeting. Any work order that is accepted in the meeting, by the planner, will be owned by the planner. The area planner will then be responsible for planning the work, locating and properly staging material.The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for detailing the exact requirements of the work order and attaching clear, concise instructions on the work order. This will include the location of the parts, work that must be completed and location of the equipment to be repaired.The Maintenance Planner will develop job plans and prepare work order packages for the OMC & Supervisor to schedule.The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for communicating with stores/purchasing and special requests of expediting of parts and materials.The Maintenance Planner will maintain a list with status and location (off site/ onsite) of critical spares waiting on repair.  The list will be updated weekly and shared with operations supervision (area supt., assistant supt., and OMC).The OMC and Planner will walk down all new work orders daily to ensure that equipment and scope of work required is properly identified.Maintenance planner will schedule and communicate all preventive maintenance work with OMC.  A task checklist required for PM work will be included in the work order packet and attached to asset in JDE.The Maintenance Planner will maintain and update the “Bill of Material” lists for equipment in their area.The Maintenance Planner will work with engineering on capital projects to ensure critical spares are identified. They should also ensure that equipment drawings and locations are communicated and properly stored, either electronically and/or in hardcopies as needed.The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for the coordination of contractor work. This will include scheduling, providing contractors with WestRock Safe Work Plans, completing, and returning the Hot Work Permits as required.The Maintenance Planner is to make certain that all work orders follow the proper status flows. The amount of status 30 work orders in the system at any given time should be extremely minimal.The Maintenance Planner will be required to communicate any capital work that needs to be completed in their areas with engineering and supervision.The Maintenance Planner should complete at least one “High Risk Task” (HRT) evaluation per week.The Maintenance Planner is responsible for managing their area’s work management KPI’s.Maintenance planner is responsible for managing the work order backlog and working with OMC to purge work orders that aren’t completed within 12 Months.  This should only apply to priority 3 work orders. What you need to succeed:
 • Minimum High school diploma
 • Prefer two-year technical degree in maintenance related discipline or equivalent work history
 • Minimum at least 5 years of experience in maintenance or engineering in a major manufacturing or industrial environment
 • Proven leadership skills and abilities to implement change through effective coaching and communication of expectations and accountability of direct reports
 • Union and contractor environment and experience with contractual language preferred
 • Familiarity with corporate accounting policies, procedures, budget management, capital and business financial processes desired
 • Must be self-motivated; good work ethic; desire to meet or exceed goals & objectives with little guidance; strong leadership, organizational agility and communication skills a must
 • Excellent trouble-shooting skills
 • Training/certifications in OSHA, LOTO, LEO, confined space entry, reliability maintenance, government/corporate regulations and requirements for tank & vessel integrity, tank & vessel inspections, welding methods, welding inspections, R Stamp requirements, NCG, PSM, NDT, thermography/infrared applications and SAP desirable but not required.
 • Solid trouble-shooting and computer skills on a variety of platforms needed, mostly Microsoft/Windows driven or intranet
