Location Description The Meadville, Pennsylvania facility is 135,000 square feet and home to about 290 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Rachael Ray® Nutrish®. Located along the banks of French Creek in Northwestern Pennsylvania and 45 minutes from Pittsburgh, Meadville is home to more than 13,000 full time residents and 2,000 Allegheny College students. Meadville is an active center for business, industry, education, the arts, recreation, service and tourism. Conneaut Lake, Pymatuning State Park and the Erie National Wildlife Refuge are wonderful places to appreciate the area's natural beauty. Responsibilities OVERVIEW: The Reliability Engineer partners with operations, engineering and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement in asset performance across the site. The ideal candidate will have experience in using problem solving tools to identify root cause, trends and failure modes and implement strategies and projects to reduce or eliminate failures, reducing plant risk and increasing overall plant performance. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility, the reliability engineer applies data analysis techniques that can include: Statistical process control Reliability modeling and prediction Root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) Failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system (FRACAS) Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Works with project engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. Ability to design and implement Maintenance Reliability projects through the following competencies: Select, hire and manage engineering consultants and contractors. Manage multiple assigned engineering and or technical service projects establishing manpower, budgets, scheduling, equipment, and materials. Control project schedule, costs and quality via project management skills. Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes: Value-added preventive maintenance tasks. Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems. Provides input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operations. Ability to train other personnel on data analysis tools and techniques. Works with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering to perform analyses of assets including: Asset utilization Equipment effectiveness Remaining useful life Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability, and costs of assets. Provides technical support to production maintenance and technical personnel. Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/design and make/buy decisions Participate in plant and enterprise driven continuous improvement projects and initiatives. Qualifications REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent work experience) in Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing or related fields. Training and knowledge in basic reliability engineering process and tools. SMRP or similar certifications are desirable. Experience: 2 + years of experience as reliability engineer. 5 + years’ experience in a production management, plant engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, control engineering, maintenance or other plant technical roles. Advanced computer skills Experience using continuous improvement methodologies to lead RCA and RFCA events. Ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments (operations, engineering, maintenance, EHS, Quality, Food Safety and finance), external (contractors and suppliers and PCB Corporate (Engineering, Manufacturing, CI, Reliability, Procurement, Finance, etc.) Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and aptitude. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, processes, tools and software. Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work closely with peers and internal customers to share responsibility and solve problems. Understanding of mechanical and electrical operation of production equipment and use of maintenance and diagnostic tools. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language JOB ACCOUNTABILITY Work Structure: Works under Site Reliability Leader/Maintenance Manager direction. Works closely with site Operations, Engineering and Maintenance teams. Networks with other Reliability Engineers at other sites to find synergies and solve problems. Work is highly independent and collaborative in nature. Must be willing to work occasional altered work schedules to support plants and execute job duties.
