Job Concepts Function of Work: To make minor repairs to buildings, facilities, grounds, navigational locks, and light equipment/appliances or to perform general maintenance on marine vessels and all related facilities. Examples of Work Job Duties & Responsibilities: 80% Make general repairs to districtwide facilities, grounds, buildings, interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, air conditioning/Heating systems, etc. General repairs include, but is not limited to, painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repair. Makes general repairs, including tune-ups, replacement and adjustment of worn or damaged parts, etc., to a variety of equipment as necessary; ensures proper maintenance of all equipment. Starts, operates, and performs safety and maintenance checks on a wide variety of equipment and/or vehicles. Makes repairs to appliances; replaces parts and makes necessary adjustments. 10% Prepares and maintains maintenance and/or service records. Requisitions supplies and materials as needed. Estimates labor and materials necessary to accomplish repairs. Trains and/or assists in the training of newer or lower-level employees. Performs other duties or assignments as directed by supervisor or higher-ranking personnel. 5 % Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing various buildings on District 61 Headquarters compound. Strip and wax floors as well as shampoos carpets in other buildings.
