**Job Description:**
**SUMMARY**
Performs all related duties necessary for maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment used in production plant; for maintenance and repair of the physical structure, electrical, and plumbing systems of the buildings; and, when necessary, performs various construction/remodeling duties to company property as assigned. Also performs minor electrical maintenance and repairs of plant production equipment and commercial building.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Follows all company safety rules and policies.
+ Inspects equipment and tools daily for safe operations. Reports issues to manager immediately.
+ Perform daily walkthroughs and interacts with production operators, leads and management of each department to ascertain problems with machinery/equipment before breakdown and to determine if breakdown is due to human error or mechanical/electrical problems.
+ Cleans and lubricates machine parts, such as, but not limited to, shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings, using rags, brushes, grease gun, oil can, and other required tools not specifically listed here.
+ Removes dust, dirt, grease and waste material from machines.
+ Paints machines or equipment to prevent corrosion.
+ Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
+ Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
+ Dismantles machines or equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts, replaces defective parts and motors, and adjusts feed mechanisms. Replaces or repairs machine belts. Performs these duties with the aid of such equipment as hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools.
+ Reads, understands and follows diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications to repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as, but not limited to, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
+ Must be able to adjust mechanical parts, align, adjust and calibrate equipment according to specifications.
+ Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment and discusses malfunction with other maintenance employees to diagnose malfunction. Replaces faulty electrical components of machinery, such as wiring, relays, switches, electric motor bearings and motors and positions sensing devices.
+ Tests faulty machinery/equipment and applies knowledge of functional operation of electronic/electrical systems or units to diagnose cause of malfunction.
+ Tests electronic components and circuits to locate defects, ammeters and voltmeters. Replaces defective components and wiring. Able to use soldering iron.
+ Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer and oscilloscope.
+ Must follow-up work requests and PMs after work has been completed.
+ Must maintain records of repairs, calibrations and tests within CMMS software.
+ Must be able to maintain 5S program standards including organizing, labeling, cleaning and sustaining of workstations, toolboxes, work areas and parts shelving and cabinets.
+ Must be able to use hammer drill and break up concrete.
+ May install and repair electrical systems and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools and electrical and electronic test equipment.
+ May diagnose/troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures, HVAC systems, using testing equipment, and make necessary repairs, such as replacing damaged or broken wires and cables.
+ May diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as circuit boards, and mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
+ May repair electronic equipment such as industrial controls, audio systems, transmitters, and servomechanisms, following blueprints and manufacturers’ specifications and using hand tools and test instruments.
+ May connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools. May install control and distribution components such as switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.
+ May bend and cut conduit and run wires.
+ May assist electrician with drilling holes in walls, floors and ceilings for electrical connections.
+ May connect wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replace switches and fuses and splice wire and insulates wire with friction tape.
+ May bend, cut and thread pipe, cut openings in walls, ceilings and floors for pipes, seal pipe joints with sealing compound.
+ May cut out and join parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings, using power tools and hand tools.
+ May be required to complete plumbing repair work including unclogging drains and replacing plumbing fixtures, building construction/remodeling/repairs, general machinery maintenance or repair duties.
+ May patch or replace plaster or plaster board and paint walls, ceilings and trim of building.
+ May mix and pour concrete for foundations.
+ May weld and fabricate a variety of deigns, including fixtures, carts, tables, and platforms using MIG, TIG and/or stick methods
+ May provide ground watch for other maintenance employees using aerial equipment
+ May be required to assist with spill response clean-up
+ May be required to train other maintenance employees
+ Inspects products and processes while performing job duties to ensure all work done meets or exceeds the standards of the company’s quality program.
+ Works cooperatively and congenially with co-workers to achieve cohesive and productive work processes and work environment.
+ Performs additional tasks as assigned by management or as the situation requires.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ 2 + years experienced in general mechanical maintenance of production machinery to include reading blueprints, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, ordering machine parts - minimum of three years’ experience preferred
+ Possess minimum knowledge of electrical wiring repairs and installation, AC/DC controls, blueprints, schematic diagrams, pneumatics, and hydraulics
+ Ability to obtain and maintain EPA certification may be required
+ Refrigeration/HVAC experience preferred
+ Ability to get certified and maintain certification for forklift operation
+ Ability to get certified and maintain certification for aerial lift operation
+ Ability to get certified and maintain Traulsen/OSHA certifications for power
+ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions regarding procedures required for various machine repair.
+ Ability to read and follow repair or installation instructions
+ Ability to use a variety of small hand tools, power tools, scissors lifts, and material handling equipment.
+ Possess basic mechanical aptitude and ability.
+ Must communicate clearly in English, both verbal and written, (bi-lingual English-Spanish a plus)
+ Ability to read and follow written English instructions and complete PMs and work orders within Maintenance CMMS software. Ability to write English responses.
+ Ability to understand basic online safety and cyber security courses presented in English and demonstrate understanding through multiple choice exam score
+ Ability to communicate through email and by phone
+ Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects
+ Ability and willingness to respond to after hour emergencies
+ Must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency
+ Must be able to determine Root Cause Analysis for all repairs
+ Must work well with Operations and Maintenance co-workers
+ Good attitude and eager to learn
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT**
+ Attend work regularly and report promptly for duty on the days and at the times scheduled by the supervisor.
+ Schedule changes occur and should be handled in a productive manner
+ Working temperatures vary with seasonal changes where climate control is limited. The environment is one in which noise exists.
+ Work occasionally outdoors in temperatures ranging from hot to cold and exposed to rain and wind
+ Sit on a forklift, stand, walk, squat, climb, or crawl for a combined minimum of eight (8) to (10) hours per day on a concrete surface.
+ Lift and carry components, tools, or other items weighing more than 35 pounds. Any item over 35 pounds, is to be done with assistance
+ Pull and push up to 100 pounds.
+ Ability to work around hazardous chemicals.
+ Carries tools and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
+ May perform combination of physical movements to reach areas difficult to access including bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, twisting and rotation motions using head/neck, arms, wrists, waist, knees and arms while performing duties.
+ Handle small hand tools and power tools. Handling may be done unilaterally (one-handed) or bilaterally (two-handed) depending on size and shape of object and task being performed.
+ Need corrected vision to be aware of surroundings and location of items needed and perform various other job duties.
+ Need corrected hearing to identify conditions in the environment (i.e. forklift horns, fire alarms).
+ Need mental alertness to identify, avoid, or resolve safety hazards.
+ Ability to work at elevated heights.
+ Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
+ Ability to wear designated personal protective equipment for the work assignment (i.e. safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, hearing protection, harnesses, hard hats, safety shoes)
**Hours of Work**
Monday – Friday – 6:00am to 2:30pm and OT when required including, but not limited to, frequent Saturdays with a schedule of 5:00 am-1:30pm
