Summary

 

At facilities installed, the Maintenance Shift Leader will be responsible for the day to day activities of the Shift Mechanics. Reporting to the Site Maintenance Leader, you will support and improve maintenance operations by becoming the technical expert on all the production equipment for your site. You will be required to troubleshoot and repair equipment, and lead by example.

Primary Responsibilities

Understands and fulfills the duties of a leader of the following programs within the production area: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), All food safety programs, All health & safety program, All FGF safety programsWorks very closely with all operations departments to provide immediate timely support in order to ensure operational targets are metTrains; coaches; guides and mentors existing, as well as new Maintenance TMsEnsures that troubleshooting and repair is accomplished in a safe and efficient mannerCompletes maintenance related projects as requiredEnsures that Preventative and Predictive Maintenance programs are executed as scheduledRecommends additional training for shift mechanics as neededCollaborates with Maintenance Coordinator to ensure supplies of required tools, parts and labour are available for timely repairsPromotes and supports Continuous Improvement activities in ManufacturingMaintenance Team – Equipment – recommends additional training for Shift Mechanics as needed, maintain training recordsEquipment PM (Preventive Maintenance) – responsible for training maintenance team in how to maintain equipment in safe working condition, lubricating necessary parts, changing worn out or damaged partsEquipment (Production) – training the maintenance team on setting up the equipment on the line for productionShop House Keeping – responsible for mechanics maintaining the maintenance shop and tool box organized and cleanFilling Out Shift Report – training/responsible for mechanics filing out the shift report during shiftOrdering Parts – responsible for ordering parts on QMS to help maintain shop inventory and for scheduled repairsReport to Ops team (site leader, operation leader, shift leader, Q.A., Engineering) on any plant/equipment issuesIs the contact person for Engineering support on the shiftConducts daily huddles with Maintenance TMs

 

Required Experience

Minimum 3 to 4 years’ working in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of prior leadership expertiseMust be on a demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading/motivating a team to meet schedule demandsMust have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilitiesAbility to manage difficult peopleAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionFlexibility to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if neededLicensed Millwright 433A and or Electrician 442A preferredExperience with maintenance systems and computer programs (MS Office; Excel; Outlook)Passionate about mechanical repairPost-secondary education an asset
