Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanic Specialist to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA.

 

The Maintenance Specialist performs a variety of skilled troubleshooting, maintenance, modification and repair work on various plant equipment including but not limited to electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC and compressors.

 

Main Job Duties: 

Diagnose mechanical or electrical problems and determine how best to correct them.Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective parts using hand and power tools.Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work order to perform required maintenance and service.Supports individual departments by performing essential PMs on various equipment.Inspects mobile equipment and performs required PM’s to ensure functionalityAdvises Facilities Manager on repair or replacement of severely damaged equipment.Provides emergency attention and repairs of equipment to maintain production.Read and interpret facility blueprintsOversee work being completed by outside contractorsDevelop and maintain inventory of critical spare parts with keeping documentation Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.Operate cutting torches or welding equipment as necessary.Provide facilities keeping services such as light bulb replacement, plumbing repair and carpentry basics.Support Facilities Manager with coordinating outside contractorsAssist with grounds keeping as neededFlexibility to work overtime as neededAdditional duties to be assigned as required.

Qualifications

Education:          

High school diploma or equivalent Advanced training in a relevant field preferred 3-5 years prior experience in industrial plant maintenanceStrong documentation skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of PLC and machine automationExtensive knowledge of mechanical systemsModerate knowledge of electrical systems up to 480vModerate knowledge of combustion systems preferredModerate Knowledge of hydraulicsModerate knowledge of pneumatic Basic knowledge of welding and cutting principalsBasic Plumbing/Pipe fitting Basic Carpentry skillsBasic HVAC knowledgeExtensive trouble shooting experience of both mechanical and electrical systemsPurchasing basics (Parts and components)Able to manage multiple projectsAble to meet agreed upon completion dates for various projects

Personal Qualities/Behaviors:

This position will have exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required. Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods of time.Able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.This position will be exposed to heights over 10 feet off the groundThis position will be exposed to confined spaces.Ability to work outdoors in a variety of conditions including all four seasons.
