GENERAL PURPOSE:
The objective of the Maintenance Planner role is to minimize expenditures and improve equipment availability by identifying resources, such as skills, materials, tools, procedures, specifications, drawings, etc., needed to accomplish the work and communicate when these resources are available so that the work can be scheduled.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review work ordersFlag those work orders that require completion during a shutdownAdd additional information to each work order to fully define the job scopeMake a field review of the equipment involved for each work order to determine total scope of workEvaluate the work to determine whether it should be performed by plant personnel or by contractorParticipate in the evaluation of the equipment problem so repairs can prevent future failuresCalculate and estimate total cost for each work orderPrepare or obtain sketches and / or drawingsPrepare a list of parts, materials, safety equipment, tools, cranes, rigging, etc., that are needed for each jobProvide necessary procedures and / or documentationOrganize materials kit for each jobMeet with Maintenance Area Leaders and Maintenance CoordinatorsRecommend spare parts to be stocked for future workWrite job plans and maintain job plan librariesAttending monthly safety meetingsComplete annual Business Ethics Surveyknowledge of:

Level 5: BA degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
of six months to one-year related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILS:
Level 3: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Level 3: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Level 4: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
