Maintenance Specialist/System Owner - Plant Barry
Job Summary
The Maintenance Specialist/ System Owner position is responsible for the overall health of the Water/Wastewater and/or Fuel Burning Systems at Plant Barry Units 1-5. This position is accountable for ongoing development and execution of the maintenance strategy including condition assessment, outage planning, work scope execution, implementation of improvements and system budget ownership.
Job Requirements:
· Experience coordinating large projects.
· 5 years Industrial maintenance and operations experience preferred
· Extensive knowledge in utility power plant maintenance and operations activities, including general knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, brakers, and other similar mechanical and electrical equipment
· Knowledge and experience with a Work Order Management System (Maximo or equivalent) needed
· Knowledge and experience with personal computers and various Microsoft Office software needed
· Ability to communicate and work effectively in teams with varied individuals (craft personnel, supervisory, staff, and management) required
· Ability to make decisions and demonstrate short/long term strategic planning skills
· Must be able to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
· Understanding of the IBEW contract and Powerhouse Maintenance Agreement is a plus
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Monitor routine operation of assigned plant equipment, investigate improvements of equipment on an ongoing basis, derive work scopes and solutions, and implement action plans
· Execute service, maintenance, or replacement activities by providing specific direction and coordination of maintenance crews and/or contractor personnel
· Monitor quality, cost, and adherence to contract specifications, including but not limited to OSHA and Environmental Regulations
· Make technical decisions regarding system repairs and when needed rely on technical resources, internal and external to assist
· Establish relationships with key vendors and contractors
· Communicate with Management, Vendors, and Peer groups about system status, future strategies, and needs
· Coordinate all planned maintenance on the system ensuring availability, efficiency, and reliability in an economical manner
· Short- and long-term development and implementation of maintenance strategies
· Monitor and adjust budgets (current and 5yr) for assigned process and equipment needs
· Enhance work productivity by providing detailed work plans and work packages, coordinating materials, ordering, and staging, and providing effective communication between maintenance groups and Planning & Scheduling
· Assist in developing and executing forced outage, maintenance outage, and planned outage work scopes and packages
· Optimize inventory levels for respective system and identify any obsolete materials
· Responsible for developing technical specification for system contract renewal needs
· Troubleshoot equipment problems and failures. Serve, present, and follow up on action items associated with Plant Review Board, Event Learnings and Corrective Action Reports
