Summary (This is a 3rd shift position):
At the Memphis plant, a high-speed complex environment which produces products such as Icebreaker Mints, Icebreaker Gum, and Good & Plenty Licorice, the Maintenance Supervisor will direct all functions of the maintenance work force. They will ensure that maintenance work is accomplished in a safe and lean conceptual manner. They will partner with key plant production personnel to implement and drive best practices in safety, quality, maintenance processes, reliability, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in a three shift, seven day working environment.
The role works closely with various teams to support the formation of value-added equipment care and preservation methods and practices that improve safety, quality, productivity, delivery and costs.
This position is primarily a day shift role; however, the plant maintenance Supervisor must be flexible with regards to their shift start and end times. They must also be able to work off-shifts and weekends as well as attend meetings during off-shift hours as necessary to support the plant and manage the maintenance function.
Responsibilities:
Manage the Hourly Maintenance Workforce: Provide daily leadership to the hourly maintenance workforce including facilities. Make individual job assignments and track the progress to completion. Ensure the maintenance workforce is provided with information, tools, and direction to work safely and efficiently. Ensure the workforce is provided with the time and tools needed to perform a quality job. Ensure that the workforce follows all plant guidelines for Safety, Quality, GMPs, SAP PM processes, time confirmations, monthly meetings, and other procedures Manage employee maintenance functions and personnel as well as service and installations by outside contractors. Foster or drive a reliability-centric culture mindset of asset preservation, loss elimination, uptime optimization and continuous improvement. Monitors the plant CMMS: Ensure all data collected by his or her employees is accurate and complete when entered into the SAP PM system. Audits equipment BOM and PM work instructions for accuracy. Directs the activities of the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to ensure all BOM’s and PM are updated, required PMs are completed as scheduled and plant backlog is properly managed. Asset Reliability: Ensure asset reliability through TPM, Lean, Autonomous Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, and other reliability tools. Partnering with the Reliability leads to drive out inefficiencies in the system to further increase productivity and reduce cost. Business Unit Support: Provide daily technical and troubleshooting expertise to the business units. Mentorship: Provide coaching, mentoring, and training for the personnel in the plant for developing strong mechanics, technicians, and machine operators capable of performing a high level of operational performance. Continual Improvement Focus: Directs, implements, and challenges the normal routines through continual improvement techniques to find more efficient processes, PMs, and structures to lower costs and increase performance.
Major duties/responsibilities:
Proficient in Lean Manufacturing principles such as Six Sigma, TPS, TPM, 5-S and other disciplines. Fluent with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Problem-Solving methods (5-Why, A3, 7-Step, 6W-2H). Strong knowledge of SAP or other CMMS system. Fluent with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong communication, Leadership, Coaching / Mentoring, and change management skills. Strong commitment to customer service. Willing to work all three shifts including overtime to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. Ability to establish and sustain effective relationships with all stakeholders in order to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems. Ability to build relationships with various functional and business leaders in order to drive continuous improvement. Ability to communicate best practice reliability methods, insuring team focus is on implementing agreed-upon methods. Challenge peers, team members and customers to accept and apply new approaches, technologies and/or processes and facilitates teams to drive cost efficiencies and add economic value.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a technology-related field is preferred. (Mechanical or Electrical discipline is also preferred)
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience or supervision in a manufacturing environment required; food manufacturing preferred Significant experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System(s) required (SAP preferred) Manufacturing experience in a high-speed Consumer Goods environment (e.g. production of food, beverages, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, household goods) preferred
