Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary: 

The main objective of this position is to manage the maintenance department, and project work, ensuring the development of the facility and the reliability of all operations equipment and building integrity. The incumbent is also responsible for aiding to ensure the required standards of product quality, safety/food safety, legality, and authenticity.

Responsibilities:

Supervision and management of direct reports, including outside contractors, in the safe and efficient installation, repair and maintenance of Company assets. Analysis of current processes to maximize uptime of equipment through the efficient and effective use of skilled labour. Direct capital projects, through capital budgeting process and portfolio management. Forecast financial needs of the department, and ensure adherence throughout the fiscal year Develop area manufacturing strategy and cascade to establish individual employee expectations. Effectively communicating with the Production team to reduce down time and meet plant goals and commitments. Contributing to the team by accomplishing other duties as assigned Utilizing IRS principles to ensure that pertinent legislation and Company rules/regulations are built in and followed in all projects, assignments, and responsibilities. Determine the effectiveness and efficiency of all assets and make recommendations on improvements in processes or equipment. Provide data for key performance indicators (KPI’s) on craft utilization, work order completion, schedule compliance, rework, etc. for continuous improvement purposes. Manage the Management of Change (MOC) in work orders when required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related technical degree. At least five (5) years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing or maintenance environment required. One to three years of industrial work planning, scheduling, or foreman experience required. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with SAP Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) desired.

Dimensions:

The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the General Manager and has direct oversight for the Maintenance team. Project responsibility will be up to $5.0M.

Nature and Source of Control:

The Maintenance Supervisor is able to make decisions on contractor selection with the Procurement team and determine safety compliance in all responsibilities. The incumbent will defer to the General Manager when special authorization is required on cost exceedances.

Working Relationships:

The incumbent will work closely with all departments, both managers and employees, as well as the corporate team, when required.  The incumbent will have direct oversight of the Maintenance team. In addition, a close working relationship with the Controller to ensure cost effectiveness.
