Maintenance Supervisor

Janicki Industries is a private and family-owned business based in Washington State with a Layton, Utah, facility. The Layton Utah facility specializes in machining the largest most complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are installed on todays most advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles. This position is located on-site in Layton, Utah

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the preventive maintenance system, maintenance, repair, rebuilding and operation of all building systems (HVAC, electrical, compressed air, vacuum, & external building / grounds) and production machines and equipment; Manages external vendors / inspectors as required to support above systems; Responsible for mentoring production personnel to assist with preventive maintenance activities and the maintenance and repair of production and building systems; Oversees the setup and use of tools and equipment before production use in order to ensure the optimum level of safety; Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; Performs a variety of complicated tasks, therefore a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Works with Operations Manager on issues including capital expenditures planning, equipment installation, and the overall performance and condition of equipment.  Supports production activities as required. 

The following essential job functions are performed:

Scheduling, prioritizing workload and directing employees. Possesses strong analytical, leadership, interpersonal, and mentoring skills. Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all 5-axis mills, compressors, CNC machines, waterjets, ovens, autoclaves, forklifts, and overhead cranes. Connects and disconnects electric powered machines; test motors and generators; replaces fuses and sets circuit breakers on high and low voltage circuits. Diagnoses electrical trouble. Must plan and manage special projects as needed. Maintains appropriate logs and records. Orders parts and handles inventory of supplies and parts. Complies with all JI Safety, 5S, and HazMat practices. Will be a part of after hours, on rotational call-in schedule. Possesses the ability to maintain organization and inventory of maintenance and repair supplies. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Assists and/or mentors millwrights in making repairs to mills and machinery, as OJT, depending on level. Communicates with supervisors and other leadership to keep downtime of equipment to a minimum. Will need to qualify for JI Forklift, and Manlift, Scissors lift and Overhead Crane Certifications and acts as instructor for this equipment. Enforces all JI Safety, 5S and HazMat practices. Performs other duties as assigned. Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED is required, with broad specialized training equivalent to trade apprenticeship program One to three years of experience as a millwright required. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Wage range for this role is between $25 - $50 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
