Maintenance Supervisor
**Maintenance Supervisor** **Job Description** This position is responsible for the daily operation of the Maintenance Department. The Maintenance Supervisor will interface with Production Supervisors, leads, and operators to gather information on issues surrounding the performance of Production and Process equipment. The Maintenance Supervisor coordinates repairs, labor and resources, as well as provides requisitions for repair parts. The Maintenance Supervisor schedules Union and Non-Union labor for routine scheduled and overtime work. The Maintenance Supervisor approves Vacation and PPT requests and provides reviews of their direct staff. **Responsibilities** + Interface with Production Supervisors, leads, and operators to gather information on issues surrounding the performance of Production and Process equipment. + Coordinate repairs, labor, and resources, and provide requisitions for repair parts. + Schedule Union and Non-Union labor for routine scheduled and overtime work. + Approve Vacation and PPT requests. + Provide reviews of direct staff. + Ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. + Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety and health in all jobs and tasks. + Ensure regulatory compliance. + Supervise maintenance crew. + Oversee operation of Boiler and Refrigeration Equipment. + Responsible for forklift maintenance. + Troubleshoot problems with equipment. + Provide a safe work environment for employees. + Recognize and resolve operating problems to minimize their impact on operations. + Keep accurate and up-to-date records (e.g., timecards, downtime records, absentee records). + Enforce company policies in a fair and consistent manner. + Encourage suggestions from employees to improve production, quality, safety, and control costs. + Keep manager informed on operating and/or employee problems that may require attention. + Effectively communicate relevant information to employees on shift and to on-coming employees at shift change. + Communicate all process inefficiencies, equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and GMP issues to the Production Supervisor and Sanitation Supervisor. + Perform general cleaning of equipment and maintain good housekeeping throughout the department per the daily sanitation checklist. + Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained. **Essential Skills** + Minimum of 5 years of maintenance management experience. + Knowledge of basic mechanics, welding, electrical, fabrication, preventative maintenance, plant operations, government environmental and safety regulations. + Understanding of food safety and sanitation principles (GMP, SQF). + Familiarity with state and federal rules and regulations (USDA, FDA, OSHA, etc.). + Knowledge of plant operations and production scheduling. + Experience in supervising personnel in a manufacturing environment. + Strong communication and interpersonal relations skills. + Ability to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, and inventory control computer programs (SAP). + Skills in advancement planning of direct reports. + Leadership and team skills. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in supervising Union and Non-Union labor. + Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. **Why Work Here?** This is a union position offering stability and the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment. Employees are encouraged to bring forth suggestions and are provided with a safe and healthy workplace. **Work Environment** Food Environment - potato plant where the potatoes are brought in straight from the farms and produced into mashed potatoes, diced potatoes, and hash browns. The facility can be dirty and wet in certain areas, but for the most part, it is a clean facility. There are 4 different teams, each consisting of 5 mechanics. Each team works a different shift: A and B shifts are 12-hour rotating day shifts, and C and D shifts are 12-hour rotating night shifts (6pm - 6am). The rotating sequence is: 3 days on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off, repeat.
