Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

Provide leadership to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Maintenance Department within a fast-paced manufacturing facility. Plan and direct maintenance and preventive maintenance activities, including production/processing support, environmental compliance, quality control, and facility upkeep. Accountable for all maintenance operations, supervising maintenance staff, and ensuring work quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and health regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections and mitigate risks. Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. Support production department goals and maintain strong production-maintenance coordination. Monitor maintenance staff performance and ensure accurate reporting of hours against work orders. Maintain facility buildings, grounds, utilities, and equipment. Oversee salt storage, solar salt screening, rock salt bagging, and site maintenance. Handle special projects as assigned. Coordinate services, materials, and vendors for maintenance work. Arrange for rental equipment when necessary. Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools in coordination with the Storeroom Administrator. Utilize SAP and management tools for maintenance program management. Directly involved in hiring, training, and disciplinary actions for maintenance staff. Enforce facility attendance policies. Ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance activities to minimize downtime. Manage maintenance budget, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Prepare reports on maintenance performance, costs, and equipment reliability. Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices. Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, cooperation, and responsibility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred) or equivalent experience. Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in an industrial environment, preferably in manufacturing or salt processing. Preferred 3-5 years of maintenance supervision experience in a manufacturing and packaging operation. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Background knowledge in preventive maintenance and maintenance procedures. Proficient in using maintenance management software and tools (e.g., SAP). Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Experience in a union environment is preferred. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to handle a high-stress environment and effectively multitask. Must be available for additional hours, including weekends and holidays, based on plant needs.

Work Environment

Fast-paced manufacturing and packaging plant environment. Combination of office work and floor presence, requiring significant walking and travel in a large facility. Requires standing for prolonged periods, traveling between office and plant environments, climbing stairs, and wearing personal protective equipment. Work may involve exposure to various temperatures, humidity, and weather conditions. Requires flexibility to respond to urgent repairs on short notice and outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays. Candidates must be capable of handling high levels of stress and multitasking to meet production and maintenance demands effectively.
