The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and developing the maintenance team while coordinating maintenance activities to ensure minimal downtime and efficient operations. They manage resources, including budgets and materials, oversee compliance with safety regulations, promote a positive work environment and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance maintenance processes and overall efficiency.
As the Maintenance Supervisor, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Team Leadership & Development
You will manage and mentor the maintenance team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
You will proactively communicate with departments to prioritize and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and optimize the performance of equipment and facilities in compliance with legal regulations and in coordination with the Engineering Manager.Resource Management
You will lead and coordinate the daily maintenance activities to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operation of facilities and equipment. You will manage resources, including budget and materials, to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance operations. You will lead the Preventative Maintenance and work order programs, establishing effective maintenance strategies as you delegate tasks within the Maintenance department. You will manage the On Call Program and address escalated maintenance requests. You will oversee maintenance contract relationships and provide the necessary guidance and direction of their assignment(s). You will also oversee the work of contracted cleaning personnel.Compliance & Safety
You will ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and health and safety regulations, and all relevant federal, state, and local environmental and safety laws. You will uphold and promote adherence to the company's Code of Conduct among staff and direct reports.Continuous Improvement
You will identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement strategies to enhance maintenance processes and increase overall efficiency.
Requirements for the position include the following:
You hold a degree in engineering, facility management, or related field or posses 10+ years of experience in maintenance operations in a manufacturing environment. You have strong leadership and supervisory skills, demonstrated through 5 or more years in previous roles leading a maintenance team or similar groups. Instrument and controls experience preferred. You possess strong communication and leadership skills to effectively coordinate with various stakeholders. You possess in-depth knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and safety regulations applicable to facility operations. You bring proven skills in problem-solving and conflict resolution, with a demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. You have solid experience with Microsoft Office. SAP experience and certifications in mechanical or electrical systems maintenance are desirable.
Physical requirements for the position include the following:
Ability to work long hours on your feet, including walking, standing, and moving around the facility. Frequent use of hands; able to use hand tools and equipment for repairs and maintenance tasks with an ability to handle machinery parts safely. Capability to lift and carry heavy equipment or tools, usually up to 50 pounds, depending on the specific tasks and job functions. Comfort with climbing ladders, working at heights, and crawling into tight spaces to perform inspections and repairs. Good eyesight (with or without correction) to identify maintenance issues and read gauges, as well as good hearing for communication and detecting equipment noises. Coordination and balance to work safely in environments that may require coordination such as on scaffolding or while handling large, heavy items. Ability to work in chemical environments that are potentially noisy. Ability to work inside and outside in varying weather conditions. Must be able to wear a medically approved respirator and other required PPE as required.
