Summary:

 

The Maintenance Supervisor will provide leadership and direction to the plant maintenance team that is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in a food manufacturing operation.  Reports to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager. 

What You'll Do:

 

This position will be responsible for safely directing all maintenance activities necessary to ensure our equipment attains a full and useful life. They will be a champion of our vision and mission statements and assure the maintenance team is aligned with our continuous improvement initiatives. Expected to drive the finding of root causes of failures and executing plans to eliminate them. Will mentor and develop the maintenance team while being hands on with the equipment.  

 

Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.     Ensure that all manufacturing/facility systems are properly resourced and that all resources are efficiently utilized.  Direct maintenance technicians in their roles and responsibilities to meet plant objectives in safety, quality, cost, and customer service.  Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime.  Continuously apply sound mechanical and electrical solutions to resolve obstacles to plant efficiencies and to drive continuous improvement.  Provide leadership by implementing and improving our preventive and predictive maintenance programs.  Manage maintenance department costs within budgetary guidelines.  Manage the buildings and grounds such that good manufacturing practices (GMP) are adhered to, and a professional appearance is maintained.  Perform follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring downtime or inefficient operational issues.  Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment.  Effectively communicate to/from appropriate employees and managers.  Collaborate with management and human resources to insure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved.  Investigate and initiate cost savings measures.  Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.  All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.  Safety Responsibilities:

 

Hold team accountable to all Safety policies, including LOTO and PPE use.  Communicate safety awareness as primary to all employees; maintain safe working conditions; propose ideas to improve the safety within the plant.  Ensure timely (24hrs) incident reports are filled out with details of incidents to aid in quicker resolution of the issues.  Involvement in Safety walk-through audits to ensure appropriate participation and ensure follow-up is taken on findings.  Responsible for safety trainings and communications to the maintenance team. 

 

Qualifications:

 

A degree in a technical discipline is preferred, or equivalent training and experience.  5+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.  3+ years Supervisory/Management experience.  Food manufacturing facility experience is preferred.  Experience with predictive/preventive maintenance programs.  Intermediate PC business application skills along with basic networking knowledge.  Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic and repair skills.  Basic financial skills and understanding.
