Basic Function and Overview
The Supervisor’s primary function is to coordinate and supervise the work of employees in their assigned areas and equipment assigned to the Supervisor.  The Supervisor is responsible for the proper maintenance of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems and oversee the personnel completing tasks in specified areas.  The Supervisor is the primary contact with the area’s Operations personnel.  Appropriate oversight will be used to ensure maintenance is completed properly. 

Duties and ResponsibilitiesCommunicate the daily schedule to craft people at the start of the shift, making clear what is expected to be done, how long it should take, and the sequence in which it should be workedEnsure maintenance personnel work only on the work orders scheduled or Emergency Work as assignedMonitoring progress throughout the shift ensuring jobs are being completed on timeMaking job checks during the course of the shift, identifying variance issues at that time and taking corrective action as neededEnsure improvement work is not being worked ad hoc by Maintenance personnel but is transferred to the appropriate contactFollowing contractual procedures, address issues of poor performance in a timely manner and take  appropriate action to resolve the problemEnsure work orders are closed and entered into the CMMS by the crafts with all information documented and turned in to the PlannerImplement projects that will improve equipment reliability and lengthen the time between failuresIdentify, develop and address craft training requirementsReview the backlog each week prior to the Weekly Scheduling meetingIndicate which items from the backlog have to be included in next week’s Weekly ScheduleParticipate in the Weekly Scheduling meeting by reviewing the required PM’s and indicating the additional items required to be worked the next weekEnsure that any overtime is kept to a minimum and that overtime is worked according to the overtime policyEnsure that all jobs are safely released and all work is done in accordance with the company’s safety rulesEnsure that proper housekeeping standards are maintained during and immediately after the completion of every jobAttend morning meetings and scheduling meetings on timeReceive approval prior to deviating from the work process management process guidelinesThe Supervisor will ensure that his replacement, when the Supervisor is not on-site, is completely trained in the above responsibilitiesAccountability
The following individual measures for success are the responsibility of each Supervisor:Schedule attainmentPreventive Maintenance attainmentMinimum Qualifications3+ years of demonstrated supervisory leadership in an industrial environmentWorking knowledge of trades classifications and functionsPrior use and interpretation of maintenance or facility maintenance union contracts and vendor contracts applicable to task assignments and scheduling efficienciesAbility to effectively communicate with maintenance technicians and OperationsDemonstrated proficient use of various computer programsAbility to lead and work within a teamwork structureWillingness to support the prescribed work management processAbility to provide feedback on the work management process and flexibility with respect to changes in those processesAccurate and acute written communications skills, oral communications skills and meeting leadership abilitiesAbility to coach and mentor maintenance personnelExcited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed?
