Job Description

Job Overview

To provide effective, efficient, and economical maintenance services for the assigned manufacturing plant.

Job Duties:

Provides daily maintenance for the plant, performs mechanical, and preventive (PM) maintenance functions. In conjunction with the Maintenance Managers, is responsible for the maintenance work in emergency break down situations.Participates with Maintenance and manufacturing supervision in establishing priorities for routine maintenance assignments.Provides daily mechanical maintenance for repair and installation of new or rebuilt plant equipment.Provides technical advice to machine operators and manufacturing supervisors on matters relating to equipment modifications and time estimates on maintenance repairs.Must be able to develop and diagram mechanical drawings.Assists as requested in the layout, installation, movement or dismantling of plant equipment.Assists in inventories of needed maintenance parts and tools to keep manufacturing equipment running efficiently.Must have strong knowledge of general operation of the machine functions and their capabilities to assist the machine operators.Must be willing to work in a team environment with other associates.Provides a basic supply of hand tools and necessary tools to do the job efficiently.Mechanical Service Technician needs to maintain knowledge of OSHA Codes for proper installation and protection of equipment, and personnel.Facilitate and enforce all of the company policies and procedures as they are outlined and defined.Maintains a neat and organized workplace. All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Qualifications/Requirements

  Formal Qualifications and Experience

Associates degree in related field.3 to 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Continuing education seminars to stay current with industry changes.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviors

Strong working knowledge of precision measurement, hydraulics, pneumatics, lathe, milling machine procedures, welding, sheet metal, mechanical power transmissions and plumbing.Strong understanding of blue prints and schematics.Vision requirements of the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus to perform all functions safelyRegular attendance.Frequent interaction with others.Must have the ability to work in a team-based environment, assist others when needed and lead by example while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.Ability to effectively communicate in a team environment.Lean manufacturing experience desirable.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.Ability to push, pull, frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twistingFrequent use of wrist and handsFrequent stepping up and down from platformsWork on computers for extended periods of time.Exposure to moderate noise levels within the plant.Exposure to low level odors from the converting process.
